NEW YORK – The third episode of This Week In The BIG EAST Radio Show, distributed by Westwood One, launched on Jan. 13 with this week's guests: DePaul head coach Dave Leitao, Creighton senior guard Maurice Watson Jr. and the radio analyst for the Villanova Wildcats, Whitey Rigsby.
The 2016-17 season of This Week In The BIG EAST is available for download on iTunes, Google Play and Stitcher in addition to its Westwood One Distribution. This week’s episode will also air on Sirius Radio on Saturday morning at 11 a.m. on Sirius 108/XM 201/App Channel 961.
The hosts for This Week In The BIG EAST (#TWITBE) are John Rooke, a well-known BIG EAST play-by-play voice for 29 years and Kevin McNamara, who has covered the BIG EAST for 27 seasons at the
Providence Journal and is a columnist for
Basketball Times. Rooke and McNamara give a comprehensive look at the teams, coaches, players and storied tradition of the top basketball conference in America in each episode.
The episode’s “Who’s Hot” segment features audio clips from some recent big performances around the league and a recap of the league’s weekly honors.
The BIG EAST Spotlight shines on Leitao as Rooke and McNamara check in on the status of DePaul’s rebuilding process as well as their new arena being built in Chicago. The BIG EAST focus is on Watson Jr., who discusses his stellar start to the season as he is averaging 13.6 points and 9.0 assists per game and has been named to the Wooden Award Watch List. Rigsby, the voice of the Villanova Wildcats joins the TWITBE team to discuss the recent parity at the top of the BIG EAST standings. From the national perspective he breaks down the differences between last year’s Villanova National Championship team and this season’s version of the Wildcats.
