21/20 DePaul 100, Butler 69

A 29-point opening quarter for the nationally ranked Blue Demons set the tone as No. 21/20 DePaul won its ninth in a row on Friday night and improved to 7-0 in BIG EAST play. The Blue Demons (15-4) open BIG EAST play 7-0 for the first time since 2010-11, while Butler drops to 5-12 on the year and 2-4 in league play. DePaul’s Brooke Schulte led all scorers with 24 points, making 12-of-15 attempts from the field, to go along with Amarah Coleman’s career-high 20 points as the Blue Demons reached triple figures for the fourth time this season. The Bulldogs were led by Michelle Weaver’s 20 points. Weaver scored the game’s opening bucket, but the Blue Demons scored the next 13 straight points to pull away early.

Villanova 69, Seton Hall 52
Villanova (7-9, 3-3 BIG EAST) connected on 14 three-pointers en route to a 69-52 win over visiting Seton Hall (8-9, 1-5) Friday afternoon. The Wildcats’ Adrianna Hahn led all players with 22 points, going 7-of-12 from three-point land for her sixth 20-point game of the season. Lubirdia Gordon led The Hall with a career-high 20 points. After an early back-and-forth battle, Villanova went ahead at the 5:29 mark of the first quarter and never looked back, ending the frame on an 11-4 run. JaQuan Jackson’s three-pointer with 3:27 left in the fourth trimmed a double-digit Seton Hall deficit to seven, but the Wildcats outscored the Pirates 12-2 over the final minutes to seal the win.

St. John’s 71, Georgetown 66
Aaliyah Lewis flirted with a triple-double Friday as St. John’s (12-5, 4-2 BIG EAST) edged Georgetown (9-7, 1-5) in a game nationally televised on FS1. Lewis finished with nine points, 13 assists and eight rebounds, while teammate Jade Walker led all scorers with 20 points. The Hoyas were led by Dorothy Adomako and Dionna White who scored 19 apiece, with White adding five dimes and five caroms. Trailing by 13 midway through the third quarter, Georgetown mounted a fourth-quarter comeback, outscoring St. John’s 22-17 in the final 10 minutes to make much of the final frame a two-possession contest. Lewis sank 4-of-6 free-throw attempts over the final 38 seconds to keep the Hoyas at bay.

Marquette 85, Xavier 61
All five starters scored in double figures for Marquette (14-4, 5-2 BIG EAST) as the Golden Eagles rebounded from a slow second quarter with a monster third quarter to knock off Xavier (10-7, 2-4) Friday in Milwaukee. The Musketeers outscored MU 17-9 in the second quarter and the Golden Eagles led by just three at the break before a 29-point third quarter saw their lead balloon to 22 in that frame. Marquette’s Allazia Blockton would finish with 19 points to lead all scorers, while Xavier was led by Raeshaun Gaffney’s 12 markers.

-/RV Creighton 58, Providence 51
The Bluejays (12-5, 6-1 BIG EAST) claimed their third straight win, topping Providence (9-9, 1-6) on Saturday afternoon in the Ocean State, 58-51. Trailing 18-11 in the first, the Bluejays' defense changed the contest by holding Providence scoreless for the next 7:28 as Creighton took a four-point lead with 5:28 left in the half and never looked back. Providence trailed by as many as 15 in the third quarter before making one more charge, cutting the deficit to five points with 3:26 left in regulation. Lauren Works played savior for Creighton, scoring six of her team-high 14 points over the final 2:43 to seal the win. PC’s Sarah Beal led all scorers with 18 to go along with six rebounds. CU’s Brianna Rollerson notched a double-double of 11 points, 12 boards.
