After trailing 68-55 with just over six minutes to play, Marquette closed the game with a 19-4 run and knocked off No. 1/2 Villanova 74-72 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.  MU’s Katin Reinhardt tied the game 72-72 on a 3-pointer with 1:04 left and made two free throws with 11.6 seconds remaining to give the Golden Eagles the victory.

Reinhardt finished with 19 points and Luke Fischer added 15 points.  For the first time this year, Mikal Bridges was the high scorer for Villanova (19-2, 7-2), scoring a season-high 20 points.  Josh Hart had 16 points, a game-high eight rebounds and three steals.  Marquette (14-6, 5-3) scored 50 points in the second half.

Wednesday’s three-game schedule includes No. 11/11 Butler visiting Seton Hall at 8:30 p.m. ET on FS1.  The Bulldogs (17-3, 6-2) can move into a first-place tie with Villanova if they can beat the Pirates, who are 3-4 in the league standings and 13-6 overall.  Butler has won all six BIG EAST regular-season meetings against Seton Hall, but the Pirates are 8-0 overall this season at Prudential Center.

No. 16/16 Creighton (18-2, 5-2) tries to stay unbeaten on the road when it travels to Georgetown (10-10, 1-6).  Tipoff is 7 p.m. on FSN.  The Bluejays are 5-0 on road courts and 3-0 on neutral floors this season.  They will be trying to bounce back from Saturday’s 102-94 home loss against Marquette.  Georgetown has defeated Creighton three times at the Verizon Center, including a 74-73 decision last year.

Providence and St. John’s, a pair of teams with 3-5 BIG EAST records, meet at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center at 6:30 p.m. on FS1.  It will be the 109th meeting between the two squads.  Friar forward Rodney Bullock is fourth in the league in scoring with a 17.7 average.   Red Storm freshman guards Marcus LoVett and Shamorie Ponds are both averaging 16.7 ppg.
