Providence’s Sarah Beal is first Friar since 2013 to claim top weekly honors.

BIG EAST Player of the Week
Sarah Beal, Providence, Sr., G
In a 1-1 week for the Friars, Beal averaged 20.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists, highlighted by an impressive showing in Friday’s upset over RV/RV Marquette. The senior guard scored 25 points against the Golden Eagles, knocking down 11-of-18 attempts from the field for a .611 clip, while adding six boards and five dimes. Eight of her 25 points came in the fourth quarter as the Friars erased a double-digit, second-half deficit to score the 66-64 win. She added 15 points, nine rebounds and three assists against No. 21/19 DePaul on Sunday. This is Beal’s first career BIG EAST Player of the Week accolade and the first for a Friar since Tori Rule was recognized on Nov. 25, 2013.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Kaela Hilaire, Seton Hall, Fr., G
The Pirate rookie averaged 11.5 points, 4.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game in a 2-0 weekend for The Hall. Against Xavier on Friday, Hilaire led all players with 16 points and five assists, adding a steal in the nine-point win. Battling foul trouble that limited her to 20 minutes on Sunday against Butler, Hilaire finished with seven points, three assists and a steal but had the biggest bucket of them all. With 1.9 seconds to play in a tie game, Hilaire floated a shot off the backboard and in to propel the Pirates to a 65-63 victory and a weekend sweep. She finished the weekend a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line and held a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio.
