NEW YORK – With the 2017 BIG EAST Championship presented by Jeep, less than a month away, Seton Hall’s Lior Grubert and Villanova’s Darby Goodwin secure the final BIG EAST Swimming & Diving weekly honors of the season.

Lior Grubert, Seton Hall, So.
Pacing the Pirates’ efforts at the Bucknell Invitational on Sunday, Grubert won the 500-yard freestyle after touching the wall in 4:33.57. His finish was nearly five seconds ahead of the field and is currently the third best time in the BIG EAST this season. He also took the top spot in the 100 butterfly (50.47) and swam in the winning 200 medley relay (1:34.87).

Darby Goodwin, Villanova, So.
The Villanova standout set two pool records at the Pavilion on Saturday afternoon to help the Wildcats to a 147-96 win over West Virginia. Goodwin won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:05.38, which bested the previous pool record of 2:05.65. She went on to break her own pool record in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall at 55.47. Goodwin was also part of the 200-yard medley team that took the top spot with a time of 1:45.21.
Notable Performances
Katie Fallon, Providence, Jr.
The Friar veteran notched two individual first-place finishes against the Maine Black Bears on Saturday. She finished the 200-yard freestyle first with a 1:57.72 and the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:12.54. She also grabbed second place in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall at 55.37.
Patrick Brannigan, Providence, Fr.
Brannigan claimed the top spot in the 100-yard freestyle (22.38), narrowly edging out Shane Kinnon of Maine by 0.04 seconds.
Sydney Simpson, Seton Hall, Jr.
The junior placed fourth out of 37 in the 100 breast (1:07.65) and second out of 45 in the 100 butterfly (57.83) at the Bucknell Invitational.
Jake Hoin, Villanova, Jr.
Guiding the Wildcats against West Virginia, Hoin secured top finishes in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 21.48 and in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall at 50.69.
Matthey Dyer, Xavier, So.
Dyer swept the breaststroke against Wright State, taking the top spot in the 100 in 58.27, and finishing the 200 in 2:08.58. Dyer also posted a top-three finish in the 400 IM, touching the wall in 4:14.93, scoring crucial points for the Musketeers in their narrow 131.5-127.5 win over the Raiders.
Mikaela Saugstad, Xavier, Sr.
The senior posted a season-best time in the 400 IM against Wright State, taking first place in a time of 4:44.93. Saugstad also placed third in the 100 breast (1:10.96) and posted a time of 2:33.06 in the 200 breast.
