MBB Minute -- Three-Game Wednesday Includes Villanova At Butler
Top-ranked Villanova at No. 18 Butler headlines a three-game Wednesday on the BIG EAST schedule.
The Wildcats (14-0, 2-0) have been No. 1 in the national polls for five weeks. The Bulldogs (12-2, 1-1) are 18
th in both polls and have been ranked for six weeks. The game is slated for 6:30 p.m. ET on FS1 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. Villanova has prevailed in the previous three meetings in Hinkle, but the games have been decided by a total of 11 points with one contest going overtime.
No. 10 Creighton (13-1, 1-1) visits Carnesecca Arena to play St. John’s (8-7, 2-0) in the second game of the FS1 doubleheader at 8:30 p.m. The Bluejays are looking to bounce back into the winning column after losing to Villanova last Saturday. Guard Marcus Foster is fourth in the BIG EAST in scoring with a 19.0 average. St. John’s has already surpassed its overall and league win totals from last season. Freshman Shamorie Ponds is sporting a 17.7 scoring mark.
Georgetown and Providence are looking for their first BIG EAST wins. The Hoyas (8-6, 0-2) and Friars (10-5, 0-2) will square off at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center for a 7 p.m. tipoff on CBS Sports Network. Graduate transfer Rodney Pryor leads the Georgetown attack with a 20.1 scoring average that ranks second in the BIG EAST. The Friars, who are 9-0 at home this season, are led by Rodney Bullock, who is averaging 18.1 points and 6.3 rebounds.
