Seton Hall's Rodriguez, Creighton's Patton Named To MBB Weekly Honors

NEW YORK – Desi Rodriguez of Seton Hall has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Justin Patton of Creighton has been selected BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.  Patton earns Freshman honors for the third time this season.

Desi Rodriguez, Seton Hall, F, Jr.
Rodriquez made his first 10 shots of the game, which included five 3-pointers, and scored a game-high 25 points in an 87-56 victory against DePaul.  Rodriguez scored the Hall’s first 10 points of the game and had 23 points by halftime.  The junior forward played only 24 minutes,   For the season, Rodriguez is averaging 15.5 points.  The margin of victory matched the Pirates’ largest in a BIG EAST regular-season game. 
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Justin Patton, Creighton, C, Fr.
Patton led the Bluejays to a 2-0 week on the road by averaging 22.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.5 blocks.  He made 20-of-27 shots from the floor.  In an 85-72 win at St. John’s, he scored a season-high 25 points.  At Providence, a 78-64 victory, Patton had 20 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots.  For the season, Patton is averaging 14.3 points and 6.5 rebounds.
 
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Kamar Baldwin, Butler, G, Fr.
Averaged 13.0 points and 5.9 rebounds in a 2-0 week that included a 66-58 win over Villanova and an 85-76 overtime victory at Georgetown.     
Marcus LoVett, St. John’s, G, Fr.
Averaged 27.5 points, while shooting 54.8 percent from the field, in games against Creighton and Xavier.
Angel Delgado, Seton Hall, F, Jr.
Posted his ninth straight double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds in an 87-56 win over DePaul.
Jalen Brunson, Villanova, G, So.
In a 1-1 week, averaged 19.5 points, while shooting 60.8 percent from the floor.  Had 23 points in a loss at Butler.
Edmond Sumner, Xavier, G, So.
Had 20 points, five rebounds and three steals in a 97-82 win over St. John’s, the Musketeers’ sixth straight win.
