Chris Yeom, Sammie Staudt Give Seton Hall Sweep Of Golf Honors

NEW YORK – Seton Hall has swept weekly golf honors with junior Chris Yeom being named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week and sophomore Sammie Staudt being chosen BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week.  Both golfers posted career-low scores in their respective tournaments.    
 
BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week
Chris Yeom, Jr., Seton Hall – In a field of 84 golfers at the Health Plan Mountaineer Intercollegiate, Yeom tied for third place with a three-under-par 213.  After an opening-round 73, the Pirate junior posted a 70 in the second and third rounds, the eighth and ninth sub-par rounds of his career.  His three-under-par score was a career low.  The performance was Yeom’s second straight sub-par round of the fall and his sixth career top-10 finish. 
 
BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week
Sammie Staudt, So., Seton Hall – Staudt shot a 36-hole score of 148 (+6) and tied for 14th place at the Yale Women’s Intercollegiate.  After a 75 in the first round, Staudt shot a two-over 73, which included two birdies and an eagle in the final five holes.  Staudt’s six-over-par score was a career-best. 
 
Men’s Notes
Marquette’s Oliver Farrell tied for 10th place at the Windon Memorial Classic, hosted by Northwestern.  Farrell shot an even-par 210 (69-74-67) and made a 15-spot final round jump with his 67 in the final round.  He had 10 birdies over the 54 holes and finished four strokes behind the winner.  Marquette, ranked No. 22 nationally, tied for fifth place…Georgetown’s Jack Musgrave and DePaul’s Freddy Thomas tied for 22nd place at the Fighting Irish Classic.  Musgrave posted a one-under 69 followed by a 68 in the final round.  Thomas paced DePaul with a career-low 67 in the first round.  The Hoyas finished ninth and the Blue Demons took 12th.  Garrett Wood led the Musketeers with a 214.  Xavier finished 13th…Andrew Baek led St. John’s at the Connecticut Cup, posting a 74 in each of the first two rounds and a 75 in the final round for a 223 (+7) and a tie for 30th place…Creighton sophomore Andrew McCormick shot a 228 (75-77-76) and tied for 43rd place.  The Bluejays finished 10th.
 
Women’s Notes
Creighton senior Sarah Eversman tied for sixth at the rain-shortened Drake Bulldog Invitational.  Her two round score of 157 (79-78) was four strokes behind the medalist.  It was her second top-six finish in her last three tournaments…Senior Grace Howie led Xavier in the Xavier Invitational by carding an even-par 72 to finish tied for 10th…Georgetown’s Alexa Popowitz was the Hoyas’ top finisher with a five-over-par 224, which tied for 13th place at the Edean Ihlanfedt Invitational, hosted by the University of Washington.
