Xavier at Marquette (Friday, Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CST)
BEDN is back at the home of the 2017 BIG EAST Championship, this time for a game against the Xavier Musketeers. The Golden Eagles are at the top of the standings having lost just one match, last week at Villanova. Xavier has suffered a few injuries this year and has lost their last five matches, four in league play and one non-conference against Dayton. The Marquette offense is led by sophomore Allie Barber who paces the league with 5.20 kills and 5.32 points per set in nine BIG EAST games so far. The Golden Eagles boast a small freshman class led by libero Martha Konovodoff who ranks fourth in league games in digs per set with 3.93. Xavier junior Meredith Klare has consistently led the league in digs all season, averaging 4.63 per set in BIG EAST games. Kristen Massa leads the Musketeers in kills per set (3.36), but she went down with a season-ending injury the weekend of Oct. 7. Both Xavier and Marquette have been BIG EAST championship field since the new configuration in 2013. The Musketeers need to turn their season around and make a run to try to make it to their fifth tournament.
