Georgetown's Green, Villanova's Hutchinson Take Weekly X-C Honors
NEW YORK – Georgetown’s Jonathan Green and Villanova’s Nicole Hutchinson have won BIG EAST Athlete of the Week honors in cross country for their performances in the Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pa. Green finished third overall in the men’s race and Hutchinson took second in the women’s competition.
BIG EAST Male Athlete of the Week
Jonathan Green, Georgetown, Sr. – Green finished third overall and helped the Hoyas place second as a team in the Paul Short Run. The senior’s time over the 8K course was 23:37. His time matched the time of teammate Scott Carpenter at the same race last year. The Hoyas remain the top ranked team in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
BIG EAST Female Athlete of the Week
Nicole Hutchinson, Villanova, Jr. – Hutchinson finished second in a field of 369 runners and two other ranked teams at the Paul Short Run. The junior’s time over the 6K course was 19:50, a personal best. Hutchinson helped lift the Wildcats to a second-place team finish.

Men’s News – Butler’s Johnny Leverenz led Butler with a time of 24:41.4 to finish 58th in the Blue race at the Joe Piane Invitational.
Women’s News – Creighton’s Emily Martin finished first among 203 competitors in the Gold race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational. She completed the 5K in 16:58.1, snapping the school record for a 5K race by seven seconds. Martin’s finish shattered her previous best 5K time of 17:14 set last year. It was her second win of the season…Butler’s Josephine Thestrup finished eighth in the Gold race at the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational with a time of 17:31.8. The Bulldogs finished 15th. DePaul also competed and took 21st. The Blue Demons were led by Miranda Rea, who posted a time of 18:15.1…Melissa Hidalgo was the top St. John’s runner at the Paul Short Run. She posted a personal-best time of 22:34 and finished 43rd.
BIG EAST Presence In the USTFCCCA Polls Continues
Three BIG EAST teams are ranked in the USTFCCCA women’s poll of Oct. 3. Providence remained No. 8 followed by Villanova at No. 15 and Georgetown at No. 22. In the men’s poll, Georgetown is slotted at No. 17.
