Providence 56, Stetson 45
Providence defeated Stetson, 56-45, to claim the Savannah Invitational title with a 3-0 tournament record. Junior Jovana Nogic scored a game-high 18 points and was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Senior Allegra Botteghi also was honored at the conclusion of play as a member of the All-Tournament Team. The Friars trailed 20-6 after the first quarter of play but narrowed the deficit to 27-20 at halftime. PC limited the Hatters to just 18 second-half points off 29-percent shooting while bumping its second-half clip to nearly 46 percent. The Friars took the lead with 7:42 remaining and never relinquished as Nogic drained four free-throws in the final 16 seconds to keep Stetson at bay.

12/14 Tennessee 101, 20/20 Marquette 99 OT
Allazia Blockton sank three-free throws to send the game into overtime and Marquette fought all the way down to the last second, but the No. 20/20 Golden Eagles could not pull off the upset and fell, 101-99 to No. 12/14 Tennessee in the opening game at the Cancun Challenge. Blockton heroics at the foul line came as she was fouled on a three-point attempt in the last second of regulation and she calmly made all three free throws, sending the game into an extra period. The high-energy, fast-paced contest was one of runs as each team enjoyed hot shooting throughout the regulation period. MU (1-2) was able to force the Lady Vols into 20 turnovers and grabbed 27 points from those miscues. A three-point attempt from junior Natisha Hiedeman was just off the mark in the final seconds of the extra period as Tennessee (4-0) escaped with the victory. Blockton led Marquette with a season-best 28 points and tallied her first double-double of the season pulling down 11 boards.

NR/RV FGCU 89, RV/21 DePaul 84 OT
Trailing throughout the fourth quarter, the Blue Demons rallied in crunch time. Chante Stonewall hit a huge three-pointer with 1:47 left to tie it at 73-73. That’s how it remained heading into overtime. Florida Gulf Coast (6-0) outscored DePaul 16-11 in the extra period. The Blue Demons (3-2) were down 85-81 when Stonewall stepped up with another clutch three to make it 85-84 with 6.3 seconds left. FGCU closed it down with free throws. Mart'e Grays led six players in double figures with 17 points and nine rebounds. Chante Stonewall had 15 points and three blocks off the bench while Amarah Coleman finished with 14 points, seven rebounds and seven assists.

11/13 West Virginia 75, Butler 68
The upset-minded Bulldogs held a one-point lead over #11 West Virginia with just 2:17 left in the fourth quarter, but back-to-back Mountaineer 3-pointers one minute apart would lift West Virginia to victory. Butler moves to 3-2 on the year with each setback coming against a nationally-ranked opponent. The Mountaineers improve to 4-0. Whitney Jennings led Butler with 24 points, including a 5-of-7 mark from deep, while Kristen Spolyar added 17 in 25 minutes.
