Providence and Creighton registered home victories on Saturday and improved to 5-1.  Georgetown stayed unbeaten with a victory in its first road trip of the season. 

Providence shot 59.3 percent from the field, including 10-of-18 from 3-point range, in an 86-66 victory over local rival Boston College.  The Friars have won four in a row.  Rodney Bullock led all scorers with 20 points.  Alpha Diallo added 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the floor.  Kyron Cartwright had 14 points and nine assists. 

Creighton gained a 10-point lead by halftime against SIU-Edwardsville, then pulled away for a comfortable 103-66 victory.  Martin Krampelj led five players in double figures with 20 points.  He made 9-of-10 shots from the field and grabbed six rebounds, all in 22 minutes.  Khyri Thomas helped the cause with 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.  The win was Creighton’s 200th in CenturyLink Center.  The Bluejays are 200-42 (.826) at the venue.

Georgetown placed all five starters in double figures in an 82-76 win at Richmond.  Marcus Derrickson led the way with team highs of 16 points and nine rebounds.  Jonathan Mulmore recorded 15 points, eight assists and committed only one turnover in 34 minutes.  The Hoyas (4-0) shot 53.2 percent from the floor and 84.6 percent from the foul line.

The three BIG EAST teams in action on Sunday are all completing play in tournaments.  At noon ET, St. John’s meets UCF at the Advocare Invitational.  ESPNU will televise.  At 3 p.m., Butler will play Ohio State, led by former Bulldog coach Chris Holtmann, at the PK80 on ESPN2.  DePaul, also at the PK80, meets Portland at 7 p.m. on ESPNU.
