NEW YORK – Creighton went 2-0 this weekend with wins over Marquette and DePaul, extending the Bluejays’ current winning streak to nine matches. The win clinched 14th-ranked Creighton’s sixth straight 20-win season. Butler also extended its current winning streak to six matches with a sweep over the Bulldogs’ travel partner Xavier on Friday. Butler has strengthened its hold over third place in the league. Second-place Marquette went 1-1 this weekend, its only loss was to Creighton. St. John’s went 2-0 on the road with victories over Villanova and Georgetown.
The Bluejays (20-5, 13-1 BIG EAST) own a 1.5 game lead over Marquette (18-8, 12-3) in the BIG EAST standings with four matches to play. Butler’s Xavier win also marked a 20-win season for the Bulldogs. Butler is currently 20-6 on the season, 10-4 in league action and has not lost a match since Oct. 13. Seton Hall is close behind at 15-13, 9-6. St. John’s sits just two matches behind the Pirates for fourth place in the BIG EAST standings, where the top four advances to the BIG EAST Tournament and the local rivals will face off next Saturday in Queens.

MARQUETTE 3, PROVIDENCE 0 (25-20,25-10,25-19)
The Golden Eagles (18-8, 12-3) were led by sophomore Allie Barber with 14 kills and a .423 hitting percentage, while junior Anna Haak totaled nine kills, while classmate Jenna Rosenthal connected on eight kills with six digs. Sophomore Lauren Speckman dished out 34 assists, while freshman Martha Konovodoff collected 18 digs. MU combined for 54 digs, while the Friars (16-13, 5-9) tallied just 41. Providence was led by Cayla Veverka and Addision Root, each with seven kills. Setter Allison Barber compiled a double-double with 23 assists and 11 digs.
CREIGHTON 3, DEPAUL 0 (25-11,25-14,25-16)
Taryn Kloth and Jaali Winters each had 12 kills to pace a Bluejay attack that hit .414 and produced 43 kills. Lydia Dimke dished 29 assists while libero Brittany Witt had 17 digs, 10 assists and three aces. CU served nine aces on the afternoon, with Samantha Bohnet also authoring three service winners. Creighton had 49 digs and five blocks on the day, hitting .414. It's the second time this season that the Bluejays has hit over .400 against the Blue Demons. DePaul was led by seven kills by Caitlyn Coffey. Kelsey Horvath had 10 assists and Haley Bueser added 10 digs. The Blue Demons finished with 26 kills, one ace, 30 digs and four blocks on .093 hitting.

ST. JOHN'S 3, VILLANOVA 0 (25-21,26-24,25-22)
St. John’s rolled to a 3-0 win over Villanova at the Jake Nevin Field House on Saturday night behind 11 blocks and six service aces for its seventh BIG EAST triumph of the season to match last year’s conference win total. The straight-set victory also snapped a nine-match home winning streak for Villanova and just their second home loss of the season. St. John’s had 11 blocks compared to two for Villanova and the Johnnies also notched six service aces and just one error from the service line. A terrific offensive force all season for the Johnnies, Julia Cast connected on a game-high 16 kills at a .250 clip. Classmate Danisha Moss led the Red Storm with a .429 hitting percentage with seven kills and tacked on four blocks all in the final set of the match. SETON HALL 3, GEORGETOWN 2 (20-25,25-17,25-17,18-25,15-9)
Seton Hall junior Abby Thelen had a team-high 17 kills as the Seton Hall outlasted Georgetown in five sets, 3-2. Seton Hall was able to overcome a first set loss to improve to 9-6 in BIG EAST Conference play and remain in the thick of the race to qualify for the BIG EAST Championship. It's only the fourth time this season that the Pirates have won despite dropping the first set. Dominque Mason had a double-double with 10 kills and 12 digs. Caitlin Koska finished with 11 kills and only three attack errors. Senior Sarah Kenneweg had a match-high 16 digs to go with six assists. Seton Hall recorded a .247 attack percentage for the match, while Georgetown attacked at .271. Georgetown’s Symone Speech did all she could for the Hoyas with 29 kills. Only two other BIG EAST players had a match with more assists this season, doing so just twice. Alyssa Sinnette had 14 kills.

The Bluejays came out firing on all cylinders, hitting .591 in a dominant first set. CU took a 6-5 lead after MU's third service error of the set, and never let up. Brittany Witt, Lydia Dimke and Samantha Bohnet all went on extended serving runs as CU finished the frame on a 14-3 run. An ace by Lydia Dimke capped off the 25-12 victory. Winters had 13 kills and 11 digs on .367 hitting, and Dimke added 32 assists and 10 digs on .385 hitting as each returning All-American stepped up with a double-double. Kloth's late heroics pushed her to 10 kills, and Witt recorded a match-best 14 digs on the day. CU hit .327 and recorded 45 kills, three aces, 59 digs and five blocks. Marquette was paced by 10 kills by Barber, and 11 digs from libero Martha Konovodoff. The Golden Eagles had 33 kills, two aces, 43 digs and one block on .099 hitting.

VILLANOVA 3, SETON HALL 1 (25-12,25-23,23-25,25-17)
Villanova’s Allie Loitz, Amanda Pedersen-Henry, Remy Fairchild and Mallory Potts all finished with double-digit kills as Villanova beat Seton Hall 3-1 on Friday night. Loitz had 16 kills, 18 digs for a double-double behind .419 hitting. Pedersen-Henry had 14 kills, six blocks and hit .321. Fairchild had 13 kills, Potts had 11 and Emma Decker had 55 assists. The Wildcats had 66 kills to Seton Hall’s 47 and six aces to the Hall’s two. Seton Hall was led by Abby Thelen with 12 kills. Sharay Barnes had 10. Sarah Kenneweg had 15 digs.
PROVIDENCE 3, DEPAUL 0 (25-20,25-22,26-24)
Addison Root led the Friars with 11 kills. Cayla Veverka was not far behind with nine of her own. Setter Allison Barber recorded another double-double with 32 assists and 12 digs. MacKenzie Lydon posted 18 digs, 13 in the first set. The Friars held DePaul to a .090 hitting percentage for the match. DePaul’s Brittany Maxwell still had double-digit kills with 10.
BUTLER 3, XAVIER 0 (25-19,25-18,25-23)
Bri Lilly and Anna Logan led the attack for the Butler. Lilly tallied 10 kills with five blocks. Logan followed with eight kills and an attack percentage of .368. Defensively, Makayla Ferguson posted 30 assists and eight digs. For the Musketeers, Audrey Adams led the attack with nine kills and an attack percentage of .429, followed by Samantha Foti with nine kills and an attack percentage of .286. Defensively, Mckena Estes posted 16 assists and seven digs.
ST. JOHN'S 3, GEORGETOWN 0 (28-26,25-23,25-19)
The Red Storm played solid on the offensive end with a .283 hitting percentage led by the sophomore Hanna Wagner posting eight kills on 10 swings at a .700 clip. Wagner continued her efficient play on Friday night to increase her attacking percentage to .367 on the year, which ranks inside the top eight in the conference. With a game-high 17 kills, Julia Cast now has 410 kills on the season and also aided in the team’s strong defensive performance with three blocks. Erica Di Maulo posted 33 assists, four service aces and four blocks to orchestrate the offense against the Hoyas. As a team, the Johnnies notched seven aces and out blocked the Hoyas eight to six. Symone Speech led the way for the Hoyas with 13 kills. Alyssa Sinnette had 12.
