BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Spencer Brown, Georgetown, Sr., Middle Distance (Wilton, Conn.)
Georgetown senior Spencer Brown finished first in the Navy Invitational 800-meter run. Brown crossed the tape at 1:54.23. With just two weeks of the 2017-18 indoor season underway, Brown’s time ranks first in the BIG EAST and 11th nationally. 
 
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Daniel Armstrong, Marquette, So., Jumps (Michigan City, Ind.)
Marquette sophomore Daniel Armstrong took home a win in the high jump in the season’s first meet at the Blue and Gold Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Dec. 1. His mark of 2.17 meters was a personal-best and rated No. 2 in program history while, at the time, ranking the second-best in the nation this season. Currently, Armstrong’s height leads the league and ranks fifth nationally.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Leah Anderson, St. John’s, Fr., Sprints (Mount Vernon, N.Y.)
St. John’s rookie Leah Anderson took home two first place finishes and two national top 10 times in her indoor debut for the Red Storm at the Bill Ward Invitational. Anderson won the 200-meter  and 400-meter dashes. Anderson’s 200-meter time of 24.74 ranked eighth national, first in the league. Her 400-meter time of 56.64 ranked second in the league but seventh nationally.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Jade Nolan, DePaul, Jr., Jumps (Milwaukee, Wis.)
DePaul junior jumper Jade Nolan marked the top BIG EAST time in the long jump at the 2017 Blue and Gold Invitational hosted by Notre Dame on Dec. 1. Nolan’s distance of 5.81 meters ranks 16th nationally.
 
Notable Performances
  • Butler transfer Daniel Garcia won the mile at the Hoosier Invite. His time of 4:09.35 ranks second in the league, eighth nationally. Teammate Allie Vogeler took home two gold medals so far this season with a first place finish in the 600-meter run at the Mastodon Open and another in the 500-meter run in the Hoosier Open. Her time of 1:13.96 broke her own school record.
  • DePaul junior Brian Mada leads the league in the triple jump with a distance of 15.09 which ranks eighth nationally. Teammate Kiersten Walker also ranks in the national top 10 with first place finish in the 400-meter run that marks her eighth nationally.
  • Also in the women’s 400-meter national top 10 was Georgetown’s Jodi-Ann Knight. Knight set a facility record at Navy’s Wesley Brown Field House with a league-best 55.83 second. Knight’s time ranks sixth nationally. BIG EAST runners are sixth, seventh and eighth on the 400 national list with Knight, Anderson and Walker.
  • Villanova’s Nicole Hutchinson set the fourth-best time in the country in the women’s 3,000-meter run, 9:14.48. Hutchinson ranks behind No. 3 Millie Paladino from Providence (9:05.10). Hutchinson won the event at the Jack Pyrah Invitational on Dec. 2. Her winning margin was just over nine seconds.
