England Picks Up Another #BIGEASTwbb Honor While Blockton Earns First Of The Year

St. John’s rookie Tiana England collects third straight certificate while Marquette’s Allazia Blockton tabbed Player of the Week for the first time in 2017-18.

Blockton was the BIG EAST’s top scorer last week by half a dozen as the junior went for a season-high 29 points at Milwaukee on Sunday. Blockton made 12-of-17 attempts from the floor for a 71-percent success rate, including 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, while adding four rebounds. The victory was the Golden Eagles’ third in their last four games and the first loss for Milwaukee on its home court this season.
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Tiana England, St. John’s, R-Fr., G
England three-peats as top freshman after going for 17 points, five rebounds and five assists against Fordham on Tuesday. The rookie sank 7-of-15 attempts from the field, including a pair of three-pointers as the Red Storm came up just shy in the double-overtime thriller against the Rams.
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Jaylyn Agnew, Creighton, So., G
In the Bluejays’ lone game of the week, Agnew stuffed the stat sheet with 21 points, six assists and five rebounds as Creighton knocked off RV/RV South Dakota State for its third consecutive win. Agnew hit 8-of-16 attempts from the field, including 5-of-9 from deep, with 15 of her game-high 21 points coming in the second half as Creighton fended off SDSU’s rally.
Aaliyah Dunham, Xavier, Fr., G
In the opening game of the West Palm Beach Invitational, Dunham led the Musketeers to a win over Furman with 14 points, six assists and three rebounds, making 3-of-5 shots from the field.
Nicole Jimenez, Seton Hall, Jr., G
Jimenez scored 20 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor and 3-of-4 from 3-point range in 27 minutes off the bench against No. 11 UCLA. She also had three steals, two rebounds and two assists. Jimenez had scored 24 points in her first nine games as a Pirate before her breakout performance.
Maya Singleton, St. John’s, Sr., F
Singleton posted her sixth double-double of the season with 13 points and 15 rebounds against Fordham on Tuesday. The senior added four steals and two blocks.
Chante Stonewall, DePaul, So., F
In a 1-1 week for the Blue Demons, Stonewall averaged 17.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals, including a 16-point, seven-rebound, four-assist, three-steal outing at No. 2/2 Notre Dame on Sunday.
