MBB Minute -- Seton Hall, Georgetown Nab Saturday Wins: League Play Starts Wednesday
Seton Hall and Georgetown recorded Saturday victories to improve the BIG EAST non-conference record to 100-23 (.813), the best mark since 1988-89. Only three non-league games remain.
BIG EAST teams play their conference openers on Dec. 27-28.
No. 23 Seton Hall (11-2) built a 49-27 lead by halftime of its game against Manhattan and led by as many as 25 points in a 74-62 victory at Prudential Center. All five starters reached double figures led by 15 points from Angel Delgado and Khadeen Carrington. Delgado also grabbed 18 rebounds for his 59th career double-double, which leads all active players nationally. Seton Hall (11-2) starts BIG EAST play at home against Creighton on Dec. 28.
Georgetown dispatched Alabama A&M 89-49 at Capital One Arena. Freshman Antwan Walker, who did not play in the previous game, scored a team-high 16 points in only 15 minutes. Another freshman, Jahvon Blair, added 13 points. Jessie Govan leads the BIG EAST in rebounding with a 12.1 average. The Hoyas (10-1) open league play at home against Butler on Dec. 27.
In addition to Georgetown-Butler on Dec. 27, Villanova visits DePaul and Marquette hosts Xavier.
