Longstreth/NFHCA Division I All-American Team Announced
GILBERT, Ariz. – The Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division I All-American Team was announced on Tuesday with 48 student-athletes earning first, second or third-team recognition.
Connecticut led all schools with three first teamers, with seniors Nina Klein, Casey Umstead and Charlotte Veitner making the list. This marks the third consecutive season Vietner earned a spot on the first team.
On the second team, Liberty’s sophomore forward Agueda Moroni makes her first appearance on the All-American list following a team-best 46 points (19 goals, 8 assists) this season. Connecticut junior forward Amanda Collins also made the second team after boasting 44 points this year (12 goals, 20 assists).
BIG EAST Freshman of the Year Manon van Weezel earned a third team selection for Providence, while senior midfielder Karlie Heistand joins the Friar defender on the list.
Overall, National champion UConn led all schools with five All-American selections following its undefeated season. North Carolina, Louisville, Michigan, Duke, and Syracuse each placed three student-athletes on the All-American Team, while Princeton, Virginia, Maryland, Northwestern, Delaware, Penn State, Massachusetts, Saint Joseph’s and Boston College had two apiece.
An additional 10 schools had one All-American selection as 25 schools were represented.
