MBB Minute – Seton Hall Wins At Louisville; Georgetown Stays Unbeaten

Desi Rodriguez scored on a driving layup in the final seconds to lift Seton Hall to a 79-77 win at No. 17 Louisville on Sunday afternoon.  The senior finished with a game-high 29 points on 12-of-18 shooting from the field.  He also grabbed eight rebounds and made four steals.  Khadeen Carrington added 18 points and Angel Delgado had 10 points and 13 rebounds.  The Pirates (7-1) beat No. 22 Texas Tech 89-79 on Thursday.
 
Georgetown’s Jessie Govan has been the key contributor in the Hoyas’ 6-0 start.  He recorded a season-high 26 points while grabbing a career-high 16 rebounds in a 76-60 win over Coppin State on Sunday at Capital One Arena.  Marcus Derrickson and freshman Jamorko Pickett each added 13 points.  The Hoya defense held Coppin State to 30.0 percent shooting from the floor.
 
Monday is dark on the BIG EAST schedule, but five games are slated for Tuesday. 
 
No. 4 Villanova takes on No. 12 Gonzaga at the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.  ESPN will televise at 7 p.m. ET.  The Wildcats (8-0) are coming off a 94-53 win against Saint Joseph’s on Saturday when they set a school record with 19 3-pointers.  Gonzaga is 6-1 after defeating Creighton 91-74 Friday night at home. 
 
FS1 has a doubleheader with Marquette (5-3) hosting Vermont at 7 p.m. and Butler (6-2) taking on Utah at Hinkle Fieldhouse at 9 p.m.  Marquette’s Andrew Rowsey and Markus Howard are the top two scorers in the BIG EAST.  Rowsey is first with a 22.6 average followed by Howard at 21.0.  Butler is 4-0 at home this season and averaging 81 points per game at Hinkle.
 
Creighton opens a five-game homestand against North Dakota on FS2 at 8 p.m.  The Bluejays are averaging a league-leading 89.9 ppg.
 
St. John’s (7-1) heads to Phoenix, Ariz., for a game against Grand Canyon in the Valley of the Sun Classic.  ESPNU has the game at 11:30 p.m.  The Red Storm will play Arizona State Friday in Los Angeles.
 
BIG EAST teams are a combined 60-16 (.789) this season going into Tuesday.
