Butler’s Eric Dick, Georgetown’s Christopher Lema Named United Soccer Coaches All-America
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches announced their All-America Men’s Soccer teams on Thursday night, prior to the 2017 College Cup. The BIG EAST boasted two players on the national squads with Butler keeper Eric Dick on the First Team and Georgetown midfielder Christopher Lema on the Second Team.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year Dick is the second first-team All-American in Butler history, joining Ben Sippola (2010). Only five other Bulldogs have ever earned a spot on the second- or third-team All-American lists by United Soccer Coaches (formerly known as the NSCAA). The 6-5 goalkeeper led the Bulldogs to a 14-5-2 overall record, a BIG EAST regular season championship, and an appearance in the NCAA Third Round. That postseason run matched the best finish in program history. The All-BIG EAST First Team honoree had a league-best nine shutouts on the season, posting a 0.97 goals against average and .820 save percentage. Dick's nine shutouts this season are the most in a single season, while his 28 career clean sheets are also a Butler best. For more on Dick,

Georgetown’s Lema joined Dick on the All-BIG EAST First Team this year, for the second straight season. Lema’s Second Team All-America nod is his first career honor and Georgetown’s first since 2015. Lema was fourth on Georgetown’s team in scoring with four goals and four assists for 12 points on the season. Lema tallied two game winners and was the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week on Oct. 23. Lema helped lead Georgetown to its second BIG EAST Championship title in three years, earning the league’s automatic NCAA Tournament berth. The senior captain has five goals and 12 assists for 22 points in his career. This marks the ninth All-American under Head Coach Brian Wiese on the Hilltop. It is the fifth time in the last six years that the Blue & Gray has had at least one All-America honoree. For more on Lema,
