Brooke Schulte, DePaul, Sr., G
Schulte is tabbed BIG EAST Player of the Week for the fifth time this season after averaging 19.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists, .519 shooting and a .667 clip from deep in road wins at Xavier and Butler. She started the week with 15 points, six boards and six dimes at Xavier on Friday before totaling 23 points, 11 rebounds, five assists and three steals at Butler on Sunday. The senior led No. 18/16 DePaul to its league-leading sixth consecutive win and 16
th victory in its last 17 outings.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Sydney Shelton, Butler, Fr., G
Against two of the top three teams in the BIG EAST standings, Shelton averaged 18.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and drained 42.9 percent of her attempts from beyond the arc in Butler’s homestand against Marquette and No. 18/16 DePaul. Friday against the Golden Eagles, the rookie guard totaled 13 points, four boards and a trio of triples before matching Brooke Schulte’s game high with 23 points, including six three-pointers, and four boards against the nationally ranked Blue Demons on Sunday. Shelton ranked fourth in the BIG EAST in scoring last week and was the top-scoring freshman, outscoring the next highest rookie by 5.0 points per game.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Dorothy Adomako, Georgetown, Jr., G
In a 1-1 road swing, Adomako averaged 19.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and .571 shooting. The junior totaled 18 points and two boards at Seton Hall on Friday before 21 points and five rebounds at St. John’s on Sunday.
Allazia Blockton, Marquette, So., G
Blockton became the youngest player in Marquette program history to reach 1,000 career points with the sophomore eclipsing the mark Sunday at Xavier. For the weekend she averaged 18.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists in road wins at Butler and Xavier, including 22 points, five dimes and five boards against the Musketeers.
Audrey Faber, Creighton, So., F
Faber led the Bluejays to an 88-57 win over visiting Providence on Saturday with 21 points, six rebounds, three blocks and two assists. The Bluejays set a program record with 17 three-pointers, including five from Faber.
Alex Louin, Villanova, Jr., G
Louin led the Wildcats to a pair of road wins, stuffing the stat sheet with 11.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 6.5 assists, while going 12-for-12 from the charity stripe. Six of the junior’s biggest freebies came in the final 27 seconds at St. John’s on Friday as the free-throws pushed Villanova’s lead to double digits and kept St. John’s at bay. Louin narrowly missed a triple-double at Seton Hall on Sunday with 10 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in 28 minutes.
Akina Wellere, St. John’s, So., G/F
In a 1-1 weekend for the Red Storm Wellere averaged 17.5 points off .560 shooting, including a .625 clip from deep, to go along with 4.5 boards. The sophomore tallied 19 points and five boards in Sunday’s win over Georgetown.
