Georgetown 16, George Washington 5
Francesca Whitehurst totaled five goals, one assist and 10 draw controls as the Hoyas used a big second half to dispatch local rival George Washington, 16-5. Georgetown held the Colonials to just two second-half goals while scoring eight of their own. Georgetown outshot George Washington, 38-15, and pulled in 17 draw controls to GW’s six. The Blue & Gray went 4-of-7 on free position attempts and forced 18 Colonial turnovers. In the cage, senior goalkeeper Maddy Fisher had eight saves on the afternoon.

Connecticut 16, Fairfield 12
Hat tricks from Maggie Tripodi and Grace Nolan helped UConn outlast Fairfield 16-12 in its 2017 debut Wednesday at Conway Field at Rafferty Stadium. Nolan, who finished first on the team last season in points, led the way against the Stags after she racked up seven points, taking credit for all four of UConn’s assists in addition to her three goals, which all came in the second half. Grace Beshlian made her collegiate debut in goal for the Huskies. She made three saves in the first eight minutes of the game and finished with 10 total stops.

Temple 18, Monmouth 16
Reigning BIG EAST Attacker of the Week Brenda McDermott scored the game-winning goal with 12 seconds left, and Temple lacrosse (2-0) went on to beat Monmouth 18-16 in its inaugural game at Howarth Field. McDermott totaled a career-high seven points in the win, adding six assists to her game-winning goal. Down 16-13 with 5:46 remaining, the Owls dominated the rest of the way with five unanswered goals in the come-from-behind victory. Morgan Glassford recorded a game- and career-high 11 draw controls, getting a crucial three of those in the final four and a half minutes.
