The hosts for This Week In The BIG EAST (#TWITBE) are John Rooke, a well-known BIG EAST play-by-play voice for 29 years and Kevin McNamara, who has covered the BIG EAST for 27 seasons at the
Providence Journal and is a columnist for
Basketball Times. Rooke and McNamara give a comprehensive look at the teams, coaches, players and storied tradition of the top basketball conference in America in each episode.
The episode’s “Who’s Hot” segment features audio clips from some recent big performances around the league and a recap of the league’s weekly honors. “Who’s got next?” takes a look at the upcoming schedule, highlighting the big match-ups.
Just over a week away from the 35th Men’s Basketball Tournament at Madison Square Garden, the radio show this week ties in the past and the present. Creighton head coach McDermott is in the BIG EAST Spotlight dealing with some key injuries to the Bluejays. McDermott has had to retool his line up a bit, but Creighton has held on to the third seed in the current league standings. The BIG EAST Focus and the National Perspective bring two sides of the memorable six-overtime thriller between the Huskies and Orange in the 2009 tournament as former Syracuse guard Eric Devendorf and ESPN Analyst, former UConn head coach Jim Calhoun join the show to talk.
