Marcus Foster And Creighton Host St. John's Tuesday Night
MBB Minute -- Tuesday's Games Still Might Not Decide Much
The regular season has only nine games left and BIG EAST Tournament seeds three through nine still have to be determined.
Tonight’s three-game slate should help provide a little more clarity, but it’s likely not much definitive will be determined.
Creighton, sitting in third place at 9-7, hosts St. John’s on CBS Sports Network at 8 p.m. ET. The Bluejays can lock up a winning league record with a victory, but can’t clinch the No. 3 seed yet. St. John’s is 7-9 and trying to stay in the logjam in the middle of the standings.
Seton Hall, in a four-way tie for fourth place with Providence, Marquette and Xavier at 8-8, hosts Georgetown on FS1 at 6:30 p.m. The Pirates have split with the Friars, Golden Eagles and Musketeers, so their tournament seed if far from clear.
Providence hosts DePaul on FS1 at 8:30. The Friars have a season sweep of Marquette if, or more likely when, tiebreakers come into play.
The following seeds for The BIG EAST Tournament have been determined. Villanova is first for the fourth straight year, Butler is second and DePaul is 10
th.
Villanova stayed No. 2 in Monday’s Associated Press poll and Butler moved up nine spots to No. 13. In the USA Today poll, the Wildcats are tied for second with UCLA and the Bulldogs are 15th. Villanova has been ranked no lower than fourth in the AP poll all season long. Butler, which started the season unranked, was as high as 11
th on Jan. 23.
