Marquette’s Farrell, Seton Hall’s Staudt Take Weekly Golf Honors

NEW YORK – Marquette sophomore Oliver Farrell has been named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week and Seton Hall freshman Sammie Staudt has been selected BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week in the fourth weekly honors for the spring season.   

 

BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week

Oliver Farrell, Marquette, So. – Farrell shot a three-round score of 220 (72-75-73) to tie for fifth place in the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida, on March 18-19.  Marquette finished second in the team standings, 11 strokes behind winner TCU.  Farrell’s four-over-par score was five strokes behind the medalist.  Farrell has posted Marquette’s best score as a starter for the 11th time in 16 career starts.

 

BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week

Sammie Staudt, Seton Hall, Fr. – Staudt turned in a career-best performance with an 11-over-par 155 (78-77) to place second among 95 golfers at the Low Country Intercollegiate at the Moss Creek Golf Club in South Carolina.  Staudt finished five strokes behind the individual champion.   It is her first career top-10 finish and top-5 five finish.  Collectively, Seton Hall placed third in the team standings (320-324-644 +68).  The Pirates finished six strokes behind team champion High Point.
