BIG EAST Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Euan Makepeace, Butler, So., Distance (Loughborough, United Kingdom)
Euan Makepeace ran a 14:05.25 in the 5,000-meter run, taking third in his section of the Raleigh Relays and finished 12th overall in the competitive race. His time leads the BIG EAST early in the outdoor season. It is also the fourth-best time in the East and fifth nationally.
 
BIG EAST Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Daniel Armstrong, Marquette, Fr., Jumps (Michigan City, Ind.)
Freshman Daniel Armstrong tied for the second-best mark in the west region and is currently tied for fourth in the Division I after winning the high jump with a freshman record and No. 2 all-time height at Marquette of 2.17 meters, while competing at the UCF Black and Gold Challenge on March 17. The outing was his collegiate outdoor debut.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete of the Week
Piper Donaghu, Georgetown, Jr., Mid-Distance (Portland, Ore.)
Also competing at the Raleigh Relays, Piper Donaghu opened the outdoor season with a PR of 4:22.48 in the 1,500-meter run. Her time ranks second in the league and is currently the sixth-fastest time in the country, second in the East Region.
 
BIG EAST Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
Terica Harris, Marquette, Jr., Jumps (Savannah, Ga.)
After taking second place in the long jump at the UCF Black and Gold Challenge on March 17, Harris ranks tied for 23rd in the West Region with a distance of 5.81 meters. Her distance is 64th in Division I. The junior also ran the second leg on the runner-up finishing 4x100-relay team and finished seventh in the 200-meter dash which ranks second in the BIG EAST list this season.
 
BIG EAST Notable Performances
  • DePaul senior thrower Trevor Kintyhtt picked up two event wins at the Bill Cornell Spring Class. Had the winning throw of 53.21 meters in the discus to rank 18th in the West and 38th nationally. He won the hammer with a 55.59 meter throw ranking 54th in the West and 105th nationally. Teammate Sebastian Feyersinger won the 200-meter dash (21.65) which is 78th in the West.
  • Georgetown senior Nathaniel (Nate) Gordon crossed the tape first in the 800-meter run at the Raleigh Relays, while also running the anchor split of the second place 4x400-meter relay team. His 800 time leads the conference, is 34th in the East and is 52nd in the NCAA. He ran 47.8 in the final leg of the 4x400 team.
  • Marquette freshman Chris Van Saders ran a personal best (55.22 seconds) in the 400-meter hurdles at the UCF, which ranks second in the league, 83rd in the West.
  • St. John’s junior Jasmine Burkette won the 400-meter hurdles at the Penn Challenge at 1:01.1. Her time tops the BIG EAST event list, is 37th in the East Region and is 63rd in the NCAA. Red Storm teammate Nyla Woods championed the hammer throw at the meet, besting the competition by almost a full meter with a mark of 56.08. Her distance is 36th in the East and 67th in Division I. SJU finished fourth at the meet.
  • Xavier’s Russell Platt leads the BIG EAST in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.73 seconds at the Raleigh Relays. His time is 70th in the East.
