NEW YORK – DePaul’s Missy Zoch powered her way to the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week award, while St. John’s Christina Melendez slugged a few base hits to secure BIG EAST Player of the Week honors.
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Christina Melendez, St. John’s, So., UTLI
Melendez posted a 1.500 slugging percentage in St. John’s series-sweep of Butler, tallying three extra base hits. Batting .625, the sophomore went 5-for-8 at the plate and finished the weekend with four RBI. She also homered in the last two games of the series, including a two-run homer in the first inning of the finale to spark a nine-run game for the Johnnies.

BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Missy Zoch, DePaul, Fr., P
Dominating the circle with a 0.49 ERA on the week, Zoch helped the Blue Demons to a 5-1 win over Illinois State and a series sweep over Providence. Collecting two wins and two saves, the rookie struck out a conference-weekly best 16 batters while only scattering five hits in 14.1 innings. In her first game against the Friars, Zoch blanked the Friars, 8-0 in five innings, allowing only one hit.

Weekly Honor Roll
Jessica Cothern, DePaul, Fr., C/3B
The rookie led the conference with 25 putouts this weekend in DePaul’s series sweep over Providence. At the plate, she posted a .455 average with seven hits.
Sam Dellinger, Creighton, Fr., UTLI
Dellinger helped Creighton sweep Seton Hall by going 5-for-12 with a .833 slugging percentage, five RBI, two doubles and one home run.

Lauren Herschberg, Villanova, Sr., INF
Herschberg hit for a .444 average in the Wildcat’s series win over the Hoyas, tallying five hits including her 200th career hit.

Noelle Holiday, Georgetown, Fr., 1B
Extending to a five-game hitting streak, Holiday batted .538 against the Wildcats, knocking in three runs.

Mckenzie Murray, St. John’s, Jr., P
Sporting a 0.00 ERA throughout St. John’s series against Butler, the junior collected two saves and a 9-0 series finale victory in 6.1 innings.
