DePaul’s Vladutu and Villanova’s Flanagan Garner Weekly Tennis Honors
BIG EAST Men’s Tennis Athlete of the Week
Dylan Flanagan, Villanova, Fr.
The rookie claimed three singles matches for the Wildcats this past weekend. He won the only Villanova match against James Madison at the No. 4 spot winning 6-2, 6-3, while also securing a 6-2, 7-5 victory at the No. 4 spot against Lafayette. He rounded out his performance with a three-set win over Lehigh, playing at the No. 2 spot for the first time this season.
BIG EAST Women’s Tennis Athlete of the Week
Ana Vladutu, DePaul, Sr.
Going 4-0 on the week, Vladutu help DePaul sweep Butler and Western Michigan for a perfect weekend.In doubles action against Bulter, Vladutu paired with Florence Abbott, trumped Joselyn Koester and Jordan Minnick, 7-5 at the No.2 spot while Vladutu defeated Koester 6-2, 6-0 at the No.3 court in singles play. In DePaul’s 4-0 sweep over Western Michigan, Vladutu and Abbott collected a 6-2 win and Vladutu defeated Katja Fevralev 6-4, 6-1.
Notable Performances
Linley Busby, Villanova, Sr.
Busby played flawlessly for the Wildcats, going undefeated against Chestnut Hill and Lafayette this past week. She won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 4 spot against Chestnut Hill and also won 6-1, 6-1 against Lafayette at the No. 4 spot as well. In doubles action, Busby combined with Kaylan Rotman at the No. 1 to win 6-3 against Lafayette.
Jessica Livianu, St. John’s, Fr.
No. 62 Livianu cruised to a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Fordham's Carina Ma at the No. 1 position this past Saturday. Livianu also played with Anna Morozova in doubles play, capturing an easy 6-2 win at the No. 1 position. The Johnnies topped Fordham 5-2 to close out a 16-3 regular season campaign.
