NEW YORK, N.Y. – Creighton’s Sam Dellinger belted 10 hits, including a three-run home run over Butler en route to being named BIG EAST Softball Player of the Week, and Villanova’s Brette Lawrence tossed a perfect game on her way to BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week honors.
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Sam Dellinger, Creighton, Fr., UT
The rookie was a force at the plate, batting .588 in 17 at bats, leading the Bluejays to a 3-2 record for the week.  Dellinger knocked in eight runs and scored seven of her own, tallying a hit in all five games played and recording a 1.294 slugging percentage. In Creighton’s last two games against Butler, she delivered three home runs, including a three-run shot in the second game. She is the first Bluejay to have a multi-home run game this season.

BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week
Brette Lawrence, Villanova, Sr.
Lawrence made history this weekend as she became the third Wildcat to pitch a perfect game in Villanova softball program history after she went spotless against St. John’s in a six-inning series finale. Overall on the week, the senior went 5-0 in the circle, collecting a 0.76 ERA while striking out 21. In conference action, Lawrence went 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA, helping Villanova to a 2-1 series win against St. John’s.
 
Weekly Honor Roll
Theresa Kane, Georgetown, Jr. OF
Kane batted .727 for the Hoyas last week, recording at least two hits in each of their three contests while swiping five bases.
Emma Lee, Providence, So., OF
Lee hit .478 and drove in seven runs in six games for the Friars last week, including four runs against Seton Hall.
Madison Morris, St. John’s, So., P
Morris went 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA in St. John’s second game against Villanova last weekend. In six innings of work, she allowed zero runs and only two hits while striking out five.
Natalia Segovia, Villanova, Sr., INF
The Wildcat veteran hammered out a grand slam in Villanova’s 2-1 series over St. John’s.
Valerie Suto, Seton Hall, Sr., OF
Suto helped Seton Hall to a 2-2 week by hitting .667 and scoring three times.
