Morgan Ryan and Francesca Whitehurst garner honors after Hoyas earn notable win over nationally ranked Denver.

BIG EAST Attacker Of The Week
Morgan Ryan, Georgetown, So., A
Ryan garners her first weekly award after leading the Hoyas to 9-7 win over No. 13/13 Denver on Saturday. The sophomore attacker totaled five points off four goals and an assist, adding a caused turnover and ground ball. Ryan scored Georgetown’s final two goals, including the game winner, as the Hoyas remained in contention for a BIG EAST regular-season title and No. 1 seed in the conference championship.
 
BIG EAST Midfielder Of The Week
Francesca Whitehurst, Georgetown, So., M
In the Hoyas’ biggest win of the season, Whitehurst stuffed the stat sheet with five points off a goal and four assists, seven draw controls, a caused turnover and ground ball. Georgetown topped No. 13/13 Denver, 9-7, with one of Whitehurst’s four dishes coming on the game-winning goal with 11:51 remaining. This is Whitehurst’s third consecutive BIG EAST weekly award.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week
Caroline Fitzgerald, Florida, Sr., D
Fitzgerald marked NR/RV Temple’s Morgan Glassford, and limited her to just one goal before checking out of the game midway through the second half. Fitzgerald collected three ground balls, won one draw control and caused one turnover in the Gators’ 15-5 win, marking the Owls’ lowest scoring output in BIG EAST play this season. With the three ground balls, she became Florida’s all-time leader in the category with 143 in her career. With the win, the Gators clinched at least a share of their third consecutive BIG EAST regular-season title, and top-two seed in the BIG EAST Championship, presented by Jeep.
 
BIG EAST Freshman Of The Week
Monica Borzillo, Cincinnati, Fr., A
Borzillo claims her fifth weekly award of the season after leading the Bearcats’ to a notable 10-9 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday. Two of the rookie’s three scores game in the second half as Borzillo regained the lead for Cincinnati twice, including with just 1:27 remaining in regulation. She added a ground ball, draw control and caused turnover in the win over the Commodores. Borzillo pushed her UC single-season points record to 73 and also holds the single-season standards for points per game (4.56), assists (34) and assists per game (2.12).
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Jacqueline Jordan, Connecticut, Sr., A
Jordan led the Huskies to a dramatic 15-14 win at Villanova on Saturday, totaling four points off a hat trick and an assist, to go along with eight draw controls and a ground ball. The senior scored two of her three goals in the second half.
Julianna Shearer, Marquette, Sr., A
Became the first BIG EAST attacker this year, and first-ever at Marquette, to score 50 goals in a season after potting five in a 19-2 victory over Butler on Senior Day. In her final home game at MU, Shearer scored five times, added two ground balls, three draws and a caused turnover. She has league-leading 52 scores on the season, which ranks 13th in the nation, including 27 goals during BIG EAST play.
Jillian Swikart, Villanova, So., A
Swikart stuffed the stat sheet in the Wildcats’ narrow setback to Connecticut, totaling six points off four goals and two assists, three ground balls, two draw controls and two caused turnovers. Two of Swikart’s second-half goals knotted the score, including the game-tying goal with 17 seconds remaining.
