Villanova 8, Penn 1
Villanova (17-12, 2-4 BIG EAST) gets back on the winning track on Tuesday afternoon with an 8-1 win at Penn (11-11, 2-2 Ivy League). The Wildcats scored two runs in the first inning and five runs in the third inning to jump out to a 7-0 lead, and the team added another run in the fifth inning. At the plate, Villanova was guided by Brittany Husk, who went 2-for-2 and collected three RBI and one run. In the circle, Brette Lawrence started the game and pitched three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits. Gabby Wenn came on in relief for Lawrence and she pitched two innings. Kalee Smith (W, 1-1) earned the win on the hill for not allowing a run. The win snaps a three-game skid for Villanova.

DePaul 2, Loyola 1
The Blue Demons defeated Loyola 2-1 on Tuesday evening at the Loyola Softball Park. DePaul’s (16-15, 2-3 BIG EAST) Megan Leyva recorded a hit and run in the win. Jessica Cothern, Alysia Rodriguez, Nicole Pihl and Dylan Christensen also added a hit. Kayla Landwehrmier earned her second win the circle for the Blue Demons. The junior transfer pitched for four innings, allowing two hits and one earned run. She struck out one. Kennedy Garcia pitched the final three innings and earned the save. She allowed one hit and struck out one.
