VILLANOVA, Pa. – The BIG EAST Women’s Lacrosse Championship presented by Jeep gets under way on Thursday with the Semifinals as reigning champion and top seed Florida faces fourth seeded Temple at 4:30 p.m. (ET), followed by second-seeded Georgetown against No. 4 seed Denver at 7 p.m. The BIG EAST Digital Network will cover both semifinal tilts live from Villanova Stadium in Villanova, Pa. Thursday’s winners will square off in the title game on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., in a game airing live on FS2.

In The BIG EAST Championship: 2016 title game: Florida 16, Temple 4
2017 Regular-Season: The two teams met just under two weeks ago on April 22 in Philadelphia, with then-No. 2/2 Florida scoring a 15-5 victory. The Gators scored the first nine goals of the game before the Owls notched one before the break. UF’s burst continued in the second period, leading 13-1 after 10 minutes of the second half. Sammi Burgess scored four goals and added an assist for Florida, while Morgan Glassford led Temple with two goals and a dish.

In The BIG EAST Championship: First postseason meeting
2017 Regular-Season: Georgetown and then-No. 13/13 Denver met in Washington, D.C., on April 22, with the Hoyas scoring the 9-7 upset victory. Georgetown led start to finish, breaking out to a 3-0 lead which it grew to as many as 9-4 before the Pioneers mounted a comeback. Julia Feiss scored five second-half goals to narrow the gap to 9-7 with 7:40 to play, but both teams were kept off the board for the remainder of the contest. Morgan Ryan led Georgetown with four goals and an assist while Maddy Fisher made eight saves to preserve the win.
