NEW YORK – No. 2 Connecticut earns BIG EAST Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week after improving to 5-0 on the season, while Georgetown’s Anna Farley earns Freshman of the Week honors.

BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Charlotte Veitner, Connecticut, Sr., F
Veitner notched her first hat trick of the season with four goals as No. 2 UConn routed Pacific, 6-2. On Sunday, the senior attacker added a fifth goal to her weekend tally, in a 3-1 victory over No. 18 Harvard. Overall, Veitner leads the conference with 13 points (6 goals, 1 assist) averaging 2.6 points per match. Veitner also leads all players with 26 shots through the Huskies opening five games this season.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Casey Umstead, Connecticut, Sr., D
For the third consecutive week, Umstead has earned a BIG EAST Player of the Week honor, while earning Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. Umstead anchored a Huskies’ defense that knocked off Pacific, 6-2, on Friday and No. 18 Harvard, 3-1, on Sunday. The Huskies outshot their opponents 42-10 this weekend, holding Pacific to only two shots, compared to UConn’s 26 shots in the match. In addition, the senior back recorded two points, registering a pair of assists.

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Anna Farley, Georgetown, Fr., D
Searching for the equalizer against UMass Lowell, Farley took a pass from classmate Nell Van Schaack, evening the match at 1-1, while also tallying her first career goal. In the second game of the weekend, against Holy Cross, the freshman back recorded a goal and two assists as the Hoyas earned the victory, 4-3. Overall, Farley recorded six points after only tallying a single assist in her first four games.

BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Agueda Moroni, Liberty , So., MF
In two matches, the sophomore scored three goals, including two in a 3-2 road victory over Longwood. While facing the defending national champion, No. 6 Delaware, Moroni recorded the first goal of the match.
Erin Huffman, Old Dominion, So., F
Against Michigan State, the sophomore attacker scored a goal as Old Dominion earned a 3-2 victory. Two days later against Richmond, the Monarchs earned a 4-2 victory, as Huffman found the back of the cage twice.
Margot van Hecking Colenbrander, UConn, Fr., D
The freshman recorded four points in a pair of UConn victories, tallying a goal against Pacific and a pair of assists against No. 18 Harvard.
Francesca Bello, Villanova, Sr., F
The senior tallied her first career hat trick, in a 7-1 victory over LIU Brooklyn on Friday. Bello Notched a trio of goals and a pair of assists, scoring her first eight points of the season.
Dayna Barlow, Quinnipiac, Sr., MF
Barlow led Quinnipiac to a 4-2 win against Yale on Friday, the Bobcats first win on the season and also the programs first victory on the new turf field. Barlow’s two-goal outing is a team-high this season and the second multiple-goal game of her career.
