BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Jack Shearer, St. John’s, Fr., F (Aliquippa, Pa.)

St. John’s rookie Jack Shearer scored two goals in the Red Storm’s 3-0 league win over rv/No. 19 Xavier on Saturday. Shearer scored in the ninth and the 25th minutes to help St. John’s take a 2-0 lead in the first half. The only other player to score two goals this year on Xavier was Boston College’s Simon Enstrom. Three goals were the most an opponent has scored against Xavier this season. The 3-0 victory ended Xavier’s seven-game unbeaten streak and handed the Musketeers their first loss since Aug. 25. Shearer started and played 55 minutes in the match. He took just three shots, two on goal, both of which went in.
 
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
David Enstrom, St. John’s, Sr., M (Stockholm, Sweden)
Playing co-center back for St. John’s, David Enstrom led a defense that held rv/No. 19 Xavier to just three shots for the match, one on goal. Enstrom and the Red Storm defense held Xavier to its first shutout loss of the season and ended the Musketeers seven-game unbeaten streak. Enstrom played all 90 minutes and also assisted Jack Shearer’s first goal, the eventual game-winning goal in the ninth minute.
 
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Eric Dick, Butler, RS-Sr., GK (Carmel, Ind.)
Butler senior keeper Eric Dick made four saves in a 1-0 win at Providence on Saturday night, giving Butler its second win in BIG EAT play. Dick made diving saves in the 27th and 42nd minutes, respectively, using his left knee in both cases to redirect point-blank shots from Danny Griffin and Matt DePerro. He posted his third shutout of the season and the 22ndsolo shutout of his Butler career. Dick is now 6-1 on the season with a 0.98 goals against average. He boasts a .806 save percentage.
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Derek Dodson, Georgetown, Fr., F (Aurora, Ill.)
Georgetown freshman forward Derek Dodson scored both goals in the Hoyas come-from-behind victory at DePaul on Saturday. Dodson scored the game-tying goal in the goal in the 42nd minute and scored the game-winner with just over a minute left to play in the game. Dodson came in off the bench and played 67 minutes in the win against DePaul, with four shots all on goal. In the come-from-behind overtime victory over Stony Brook on Wednesday, Dodson took one shot and played 48 minutes.
 
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Brandon Guhl, Butler, So., F (Houston, Texas)
Guhl scored the game-winning goal for Butler at Providence. It was his only shot of the contest, scoring in the 31st minute of play. Guhl leads the league with seven goals.
Lucas Stauffer, Creighton, Sr., D (Owensboro, Ky.)
Stauffer played all 190 minutes in a 2-0 week for Creighton. The Bluejays allowed just one goal with victories over Villanova and Tulsa. Stauffer added the insurance goal in the 2-0 win against the Wildcats.
Daniel Szczepanek, Marquette, Sr., F (Grayslake, Ill.)
Szczepanek scored two goals in a 4-2 win over Seton Hall on Saturday for the Golden Eagles first win of the season. Szczepanek scored in the 20th minute, MU’s second goal and the insurance goal in the 80th.
Lucas Hodges, Villanova, Sr., M (Palos Verdes, Calif.)
Hodges had a three-point week for the Wildcats with two goals and an assist in VU’s 3-0 non-league win over Saint Joseph’s on Tuesday.
Samson Sergi, Xavier, RS-So., F (Ashburn, Va.)
Sergi scored the equalizer for Xavier in the 28th minute of a 1-1 draw at then-No. 15 Kentucky on Wednesday in non-league action. Sergi’s goal was his fifth of the season. XU went 1-1 last week.
