BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week
Amanda Vocelka, Villanova, Sr., F
Vocelka netted two goals this weekend, her first was what would be the game winner against Saint Joseph’s on Fright night, while her second came against Lafayette on Sunday from 18 yards out. The Wildcats went 2-0 over the weekend, outscoring their opponents 6-0.
BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week
Emily Kuefler, Villanova, Sr., D
Kuefler was pivotal at both ends of the field this weekend, anchoring a defense which posted back-to-back shutouts while allowing just five shots on goal over the two wins. The senior defender helped sparked the offense as well with a league-high five points last week, including two goals and an assist. Kuefler scored back-to-back goals to open the contest against Lafayette on Sunday, while helping to limit the Leopards to just four shots. She also assisted on Friday’s game-winning goal against Saint Joseph’s.
BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week
Maddy Henry, Marquette, So., GK
Henry helped extend RV Marquette’s shutout streak to over 380 minutes with back-to-back clean sheets this weekend. The sophomore combined for a trio of saves as the Golden Eagles blanked Central Michigan and Mercer at Valley Fields.
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Kylie Sprecher, Marquette, Fr., F
Sprecher scored the lone goal in Marquette’s 1-0 win over Central Michigan on Friday and posted an assist on Eli Beard’s match winner on Sunday against Mercer. She earned Offensive MVP of the Marquette Invitational as MU improved to 5-1. The rookie started both matches at forward and played 157 of 180 minutes.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Christina Bellero, St. John’s, Jr., F
Bellero’s game winner against Connecticut on Friday night was her fourth consecutive game with a goal, stretching the Red Storm’s unbeaten streak to four games before their double-overtime setback on Sunday to Harvard.
Ryley Bugay, Marquette, R-Jr., M
Bugay was named Defensive MVP of the Marquette Invitational, playing all 180 minutes as MU posted shutouts over Central Michigan and Mercer. The redshirt-junior is part of a Marquette defensive unit that has not surrendered a goal in the last 381:55, spanning four-plus matches.
Leonie Doege, Butler, Fr., GK
Doege helped Butler to back-to-back 1-0 victories last week, combining for four saves in 90 minutes of action. The rookie split time in the cage, playing a half in each contest. She made three saves against Eastern Michigan on Friday and one against Cleveland State on Sunday.
Emily Harris, Villanova, Sr., GK
Harris posted back-to-back shutouts against Saint Joseph’s and Lafayette this weekend, making five saves in 180 minutes of work.
Andie Kennard, Xavier, Jr., D
Kennard played 173 minutes over the weekend as an outside back for the Musketeers. In addition, Kennard orchestrates set-pieces off of throw-ins for the Musketeers and handles corner kicks in lieu of leading-scorer Sam Dewey. The junior defender also led a number of counter attacks, including scoring the game-winner for the Musketeers in the 104th minute of the match
