NEW YORK – Butler forward Kelan Martin and Xavier forward Naji Marshall have garnered men’s basketball weekly honors.  Martin has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week after averaging 23.5 points and 9.0 rebounds in a pair of games that included a 37-point effort in a win against Marquette.  Marshall has been tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after averaging 11.5 points in a 1-1 week for the Musketeers.
 
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Kelan Martin, Butler, F, Sr. – Martin poured in a career-high 37 points to lead Butler to a 94-83 win against Marquette on Friday.  He needed just 17 shots from the floor, making 12, and connected on all nine of his free throw attempts.   His 37 points were the most by a Butler player since 1998.  Earlier in the week, Martin posted his fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds in an 85-74 loss at Creighton.  In BIG EAST play, Martin ranks first in the league in scoring with a 25.0 average.
 
BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Naji Marshall, Xavier, F, Fr. – Marshall averaged 11.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for Xavier.  He helped the Musketeers to a 92-70 win over Creighton with 10 points.  He shot 50 percent from the field for the two games.  Marshall entered the week averaging 7.3 points per game. 
  
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Marcus Foster, Creighton, G, Sr.
Averaged 19.5 points and 5.0 assists in a 1-1 week.  Had a game-high 23 points and a season-high eight assists in an 85-74 win over Butler.   
 
Sam Hauser, Marquette, F, So.
Averaged 22.0 points and 7.0 rebounds while shooting 57.1 percent from the field in a 1-1 week.  Made 10-of-18 from 3-point range.  Tied a career scoring high with 30 points in a 94-83 loss at Butler. 
 
Alpha Diallo, Providence, G, So.
Posted 16 points and had a game-high nine rebounds in a win at DePaul (71-64).  Scored 14 points in the final 17 minutes to help the Friars rally from 12 points down. 
 
Angel Delgado, Seton Hall, C, Sr.
Recorded two double-doubles in a 1-1 week.  Averaged 11.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.5 blocked shots.  Has had a double-double in 17 straight BIG EAST games.      
 
Donte DiVincenzo, Villanova, G, So.
Averaged 18.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in a 2-0 week.  Matched a career high with 25 points in a 78-71 win at St. John’s.
