Eight #BIGEASTmlax Players Selected in MLL Supplemental Draft

NEW YORK  –  Major League Lacrosse held its 2018 Supplemental Draft via conference call Wednesday. Each of the nine teams participated in the 12-round draft that also included an auxiliary round in which the Bayhawks, Lizards, Blaze and Launch participated.

Eight BIG EAST men’s lacrosse alumni were selected with midfielder Jack Curran, a former Villanova player being selected sixth overall by Dallas. Another former Wildcat John Moderski was also picked up by Dallas, 15th overall. A third Villanova alum, Kevin Cunningham was drafted 32nd by New York. 

Denver alum Mark Matthews was drafted 36th overall by Ohio while another Pioneer alum and member of Denver’s current staff, Jeremy Noble was picked up by Atlanta.  Noble was drafted in the sixth overall round with the 47th overall pick. 

Marquette had a pair of players: Jordan Greenfield and Andy DeMichei get selected.  Greenfield, who played for MU as a graduate student in 2015, was selected by Boston with the 64th overall selection in the eighth round, while DeMichiei was picked in the 10th round by the Florida Launch (88th overall).

Georgetown’s Charlie Ford was drafted in the ninth round (79th overall) also by Florida. 

The first pick fell to the Boston Cannons, who selected former Richmond goaltender Benny Pugh, who was drafted last year by the Florida Launch but saw limited action as a rookie behind Austin Kaut.
