In Sunday action, Seton Hall’s Angel Delgado broke one of the BIG EAST’s longest standing records in a win in Chicago and Villanova survived a tough road test in Milwaukee.

Delgado needed only two rebounds at DePaul to pass Syracuse’s Derrick Coleman and become the league’s all-time rebound leader in conference games.  He got the record early and went on to grab 19 rebounds – the most by a player in a BIG EAST game this season – in an 86-70 victory over the Blue Demons.  Delgado’s rebound total stands at 719.  He also scored 10 points to produce his 65th career double-double, which leads the nation.  Myles Powell led Seton Hall (16-5, 5-3) offensively with 21 points.  Tre’Darius McCallum led five Blue Demons (9-12, 2-7) in double figures with 16 points.  Eli Cain added 11 points and six assists.  Seton Hall (16-5, 5-3) ended a two-game losing streak.

For the second straight season, Villanova went into its game at Marquette ranked No. 1 in the nation.  Last year, Marquette pulled the upset 74-72.  This time, the Wildcats went home with an 85-82 win in front of 17,120 fans at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.  Villanova took a 53-52 lead with 17:47 remaining and held on to a single-digit advantage the rest of the way.  For the third time this season, Villanova’s Jalen Brunson scored a game-high 31 points.  Donte DiVincenzo, starting in place of injured Phil Booth, added 23 points.  Andrew Rowsey led the Golden Eagles (13-8, 4-5) with 29 points and Sacar Anim tied his career high with 14 points.  The win gives Villanova (20-1, 7-1) its sixth straight 20-win season.

The BIG EAST schedule continues Tuesday when St. John’s hosts Xavier at Carnesecca Arena.  CBS Sports Network has the game at 8:30 p.m. ET.  On Wednesday, Seton Hall hosts Providence at 7 p.m. ET in the first game of an FS1 doubleheader.  In the second game at 9 p.m., Butler travels to Marquette.  Thursday’s schedule shows one game, Creighton at Villanova at 6:30 p.m. on FS1.
