OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – A trio of BIG EAST players were selected as candidates for the 2017-18 Senior CLASS Award®.  Creighton’s Marcus Foster, Seton Hall’s Angel Delgado and Xavier’s Trevon Bluiett are three of 30 NCAA men’s basketball student-athletes who excel both on and off the court and are eligible for the award.

To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Each of the 30 candidate classes will be narrowed to fields of 10 finalists in February, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one male candidate and one female candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.

Foster averages 19.4 points per game this season to lead Creighton. His 649 career field goals are the most amongst the nation's active players, while his 1,804 career points are ranked fifth. He is one of the leaders on a Bluejay team that is 12-3 as of January 5th, and ranked 24th nationally in the USA Today Coaches poll.

Delgado continues to dominate on the glass in his senior season at Seton Hall, averaging a double-double through 15 games (13.7 pts, 11.5 rebs). Both of his 61 career double-doubles and 1,226 rebounds rank at the top of the NCAA’s active players list. Delgado and the Pirates rank No. 21 in both polls this week, with a 13-2 (2-0 BIG EAST) record.

No. 5/4 Xavier’s Bluiett sits in fourth place on the nation’s active scoring list with 1,902 career points, while his 612 career field goals also ranks fourth. Reaching the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament last spring, Bluiett and the Musketeers have started the 2017-18 season hot, riding a 10 game-winning streak and becoming the first team this season to reach 15 victories (15-1, 3-0 BIG EAST).

The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2018 NCAA Men's Final Four® and NCAA Women's Final Four® this spring. For more information on each of the candidates, visit seniorCLASSaward.com.
