BIG EAST Championship Update
The seventh round of conference games further solidified postseason fates for three BIG EAST women’s soccer teams as Georgetown locked up a first-round bye, Butler clinched a spot in the field and will host at least one postseason game, and Seton Hall was eliminated from contention. Four spots remain up for grabs in this season’s BIG EAST Women’s Soccer Championship field, with more season-deciding action slated for Sunday on the BIG EAST Digital Network.
 
Providence 0, DePaul 0 (2OT)
The Friars and Blue Demons remained knotted in the standings after playing 110 minutes of scoreless soccer on Thursday afternoon. Goalkeeping was on display as shots were aplenty, with Shelby Hogan making nine stops for Providence and Mollie Eriksson denying seven shots for the Blue Demons. DePaul outshot Providence 20-11, including 3-0 in extra time, but Hogan remained flawless. Morgan Turner had a game-high five strikes, while Hannah McNulty led PC with four.

Xavier 3, Seton Hall 0 
The Musketeers stretched their unbeaten streak to four and picked up their third consecutive victory with yet another high-scoring outing. Xavier has scored three goals in each of its last three games, led once again by Samantha Dewey. Dewey was one of three Musketeers to score on the night while Toni Bizzarro made three saves to pick up the shutout win. Anna MacLean had three saves for The Hall. Xavier reaches the 10-win mark for the first time in 15 seasons.

#4 Georgetown 2, Marquette 1 
Caitlin Farrell notched her second golden goal in three games as the Hoyas guaranteed a top-two finish in the BIG EAST with the win. Kylie Sprecher scored in the 62
nd minute to give the host Golden Eagles a late-game lead, and Maddy Henry denied a penalty kick attempt four minutes later to maintain the advantage. Kyra Carusa scored the game-tying goal in the 72
nd, while neither team would score the rest of regulation. The Hoyas controlled the ball the rest of the way, outshooting MU 5-0 in overtime before Farrell buried the go-ahead goal in the 102
nd minute.

RV Butler 1, Creighton 0 
The Bulldogs’ win means they can finish no lower than fourth place in the BIG EAST standings so they will host either a first round or semifinal contest of the league tournament. Halle Stelbasky scored her fifth goal of the year, beating Katie Sullivan in the 76
th minute despite Sullivan finishing with six saves on the night. Butler outshot Creighton 21-3 as Leonie Doege and Hannah Luedtke combined for the Bulldogs’ ninth shutout of the season.

St. John’s 3, Villanova 2 (OT)
Christina Bellero led the host Red Storm on a furious comeback to stun Villanova at Belson Stadium. The Wildcats notched goals in the 17
th and 58
th minutes to lead 2-0 before St. John’s rallied, as Bellero scored her first of two goals in the 61
st to cut the deficit in half. Bellero then assisted on Lucy Whipp’s game-tying goal in the 88
th. In the 99
th minute, Bellero scored the golden goal to seal the comeback victory and a pivotal three points in the BIG EAST standings. Hensley Hancuff made seven saves in regulation for Villanova, while Meredith Reinhardt finished with three stops for St. John’s.
