Xavier uses a high-scoring win to clinch the final spot, while Georgetown knocks off regular-season champion Creighton in overtime to earn the No. 2 seed.

NEW YORK – The bracket for the 2018 BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Championship presented by Jeep was solidified on the final night of the regular season. Entering the evening, five teams knew they were in the league tournament but there was still plenty of drama. Xavier used a 5-3 win to clinch the last available slot in the field, while RV Georgetown stunned No. 14 Creighton in overtime to claim a first-round bye as the No. 2 seed. Regular-season champion Creighton is the No. 1 seed, while Providence is the No. 3 seed, followed by No. 4 seed Marquette, No. 5 seed Xavier and No. 6 seed St. John’s. All matches are played at the higher seed.

Postseason action kicks off on Saturday, Nov. 3, in the First Round as the third-seeded Friars host sixth-seeded St. John’s at 7 p.m. ET. It is a rematch of a game that was played just this evening, as PC scored a 1-0 win in Queens, which gave them a chance to be the No. 2 seed until Georgetown prevailed against the Bluejays. The second First Round match kicks off an hour later in Milwaukee, as fifth-seeded Xavier travels to fourth-seeded Marquette at 8 p.m. These two met on Oct. 20 at Valley Fields, with MU scoring a 2-1 win. Both matches will stream live on the BIG EAST Digital Network presented by SoFi.

The Musketeer-Golden Eagle winner earns a date with top-seeded Creighton, which claimed its second BIG EAST regular-season title after finishing conference play 7-1-1. Kickoff at Morrison Stadium in Omaha is set for 8 p.m. on Nov. 7. The St. John’s-Providence victor will travel to Georgetown on Nov. 7 to face the second-seeded Hoyas at 2 p.m. Both semifinal matches will stream on BEDN. GU beat Providence and fell to St. John’s this season, while Creighton defeated both Xavier and Marquette earlier this year.

Semifinal winners will meet at the site of the highest remaining seed on Nov. 11 to decide the conference champion and earn the league’s automatic bid into the 2018 NCAA Championship. The BIG EAST final will air live on FS2 at 2 p.m.

Four different teams have won the BIG EAST Men’s Soccer Championship over the last five seasons, with only Georgetown snagging multiple titles (2015, 2017) during that stretch. Creighton has finished runner-up in two of the last three conference tournaments, while Providence won its lone crown in 2014. The Bluejays, Friars and Xavier have each made the BIG EAST Championship for six consecutive seasons, while GU punched its ticket for the 11th time in 12 years and 25th time overall. Marquette returns to the tournament for the first time since 2014 and seventh time overall, while the Red Storm are making back-to-back appearances in what is their league-best 27th showing in program history.
