Butler's Allgeier, Tibbets Tabbed for Weekly Golf Honors
NEW YORK – Butler’s Patrick Allgeier and Lauren Tibbets have earned BIG EAST weekly golf honors. Allgeier took BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week accolades and Tibbets was named BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week. Both turned in impressive performances in the Butler Fall Invitational.
BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week
Patrick Allgeier, Jr., Butler – Allgeier led the Bulldogs to a win in the Butler Fall Invitational at the Highland Golf Club by finishing second individually with a 2-under-par 208. He carded a 73 in the first round and followed with a 66 and 69. The Bulldogs won the team title with an even-par score of 840 over 54 holes. Butler finished 10 strokes ahead of second-place Indianapolis in a six-team field.
BIG EAST Female Golfer of the Week
Lauren Tibbets, Sr., Butler – For the second time in her career, Tibbets won the Butler Fall Invitational. She carded a 1-under-par 69 in the final round to gain the individual victory. Tibbets had an opening-round 72 and finished at 1-over 141 for the tournament. That was one shot better than Indiana’s Mary Parsons who began the round with a four-stroke lead. The Bulldogs had a team score of 610, 22 strokes ahead of runner-up Indiana State. Tibbets also won the tournament as a freshman.
Men’s Notes –
Marquette sophomore Hunter Eichhorn took third place at the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills with a 6-under-par 210, helping the Golden Eagles to a third-place finish. Eichhorn recorded his second top-five finish of the fall with a 5-under-par 67 in the final round. He went bogey-free in his final round and led the tournament with 38 pars. Villanova competed in the Wildcat Invitational. Georgetown’s Patrick DiPasquale finished in a three-way tie for medalist honors with a 2-over-par 215 (72-71-72) for his first career tournament victory. Teammate Eduardo Blochtein tied for 10th with a 5-over-par 218 (73-73-72). The Hoyas finished third in a seven-team field. Gerald Mackedon of St. John’s and Connor Daly of Villanova finished a three-way tie for fourth place with 3-over-par 216. Mackedon finished in the top five in his third straight event with rounds of 71, 73 and 72. Daly shot 74, 70 and 72. Villanova’s Mark Benevento tied for seventh at 4-over-par 217 (76-66-75). His 66 in the second round was the low round of the tournament. Chris Yeom was Seton Hall’s top finisher, tying Blochtein and another golfer for 10th. It was Yeom’s 14th career top-10 finish. He carded a 218 (73-70-75)…
Creighton freshman Tucker Knaak tied for seventh place at the Zach Johnson Invitational which featured 73 competitors. He shot a 222 (74-77-68). It was the first top-20 finish of his career. The Bluejays were third in a 12-team field, their best finish in a tournament of more than eight teams since 2011.
Women’s Notes –
Georgetown’s Christina Parsells returned to her home state of New Jersey to tie for third overall at the Princeton Invitational with an even-par 144 for 36 holes. Parsells was the individual leader after the first round when she tied a school record with a 5-under-par 67. The Hoyas placed second as a team with a school-record score of 596 (+20)…
Seton Hall junior Carolina Ronchel Salas also competed at the Princeton Invitational, finishing in a tie for sixth. Her score was a 2-over-par 146 (75-71). Her second round included 11 straight pars and birdies on two of the final three holes...
Creighton freshman Katie Allen placed ninth in a field of 47 at the Creighton Classic to lead the school’s “Blue” team to a fifth-place finish. Allen carded rounds of 79 and 75 on the par 73 course at the Oak Hills Country Club. Her round of 75 is the best of her young career.
