Thursday Night Recap
Just two matches combined for 13 goals while the other three ended in scoreless double-overtime draws as Round 4 of BIG EAST women’s soccer play concluded on Thursday night. No. 5 Georgetown posted the most goals in league play since 2014 to break free of the tie for first place and now stands all alone in the top spot with 12 points on the year. Butler stayed in striking distance with a scoreless draw with Xavier, which remains in a multi-team knot for fifth. Villanova used a win over visiting Seton Hall to claim the lone spot in third place with nine points, while DePaul finished with a draw at Marquette to land in fourth place. Providence and St. John’s remain locked with MU and XU after they also went 110 scoreless minutes. All 10 teams pass the halfway point in BIG EAST play on Sunday with Game 5 of the league schedule.
#5 Georgetown 7, Creighton 1
The unbeaten and nationally ranked Hoyas posted the most goals in a BIG EAST contest since the 2014 season as four different Georgetown players combined for seven goals, including Caitlin Farrell’s hat trick. Paula Germino-Watnick had a five-point night with two goals and an assist. GU outshot Creighton 26-5, while Taryn Jakubowski scored in the 56
th minute for the Bluejays. Farrell’s hat trick is the first in BIG EAST play this season, as teammate Amanda Carolan (10/8/17) and DePaul’s Alexa Ben (10/22/17) each posted one last year.

Butler 0, Xavier 0 (2OT)
The Bulldogs tied Georgetown for the league lead with their eighth shutout of the season, while the Musketeers claimed their sixth. Hannah Luedtke had one save for Butler, while Toni Bizzarro denied three shots. Xavier outshot Butler 17-10, including 3-2 over the two extra frames, and held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Macy Miller led Butler with four strikes, while Kenadie Carlson and Samantha Dewey each posted four for Xavier.

Villanova 4, Seton Hall 1
The host Wildcats used a three-goal first half to pull away from Seton Hall early, including back-to-back scores by Bri Austin. Austin buried a penalty kick in the 18
th minute to crack the scoring column before scoring what would be the game winner exactly two minutes later. Kristin Barbour finished with two assists. The Hall got on the board in the 75
th when Tanika Roach scored her first of the year. Each starting keeper made five saves – Hensley Hancuff for the Wildcats and Anna MacLean for the Pirates.

Providence 0, St. John's 0 (2OT)
With two saves, PC’s Shelby Hogan picked up her sixth shutout of the season, second most in the BIG EAST, while SJU’s Meredith Reinhardt made six stops as the teams played to a scoreless draw. Providence outshot St. John’s 20-15, but shots were an even 2-2 in the two overtime periods. Hannah McNulty posted a game-high 10 shots, most in a league contest since 2016, while a trio of Red Storm players recorded three shots apiece.

DePaul 0, Marquette 0 (2OT)
Maddy Henry made seven saves, while Mollie Eriksson posted five as Marquette and DePaul played to a scoreless draw. The Blue Demons fired 20 shots on the night, edging the Golden Eagles by seven in the category, while MU held a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks. Marquette’s Katrina Wetherell and DePaul’s Franny Cerny each had five shots.
