Hoyas and Terps play to scoreless tie in first of five non-conference matches this week.

Midweek Matchups

Four non-conference matches are slated for Tuesday night prior to this weekend’s round of BIG EAST play. Xavier is unbeaten over its last two and will look to make it three when it visits Loyola-Chicago (7 p.m. ET), while Butler and St. John’s will look to get back in the win column when they host RV SIUE and Princeton, respectively, at 7 p.m. DePaul visits Northwestern at 8 p.m. to round out the action, with the Blue Demons coming off a draw with Seton Hall in their most recent outing. This marks the Blue Demons and Red Storm’s final non-league outing of the regular season.
 
In The Polls
Creighton remained in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 for a fifth consecutive week, coming in at No. 12. The Bluejays fell four spots after dropping a 1-0 double-overtime decision to now No. 3 Denver last week. Creighton defeated St. John’s in BIG EAST play on Saturday, 3-1, to improve to 8-2-1 on the year. The Bluejays remained at No. 11 in Monday’s NCAA RPI to lead the BIG EAST. Georgetown, Providence and St. John’s all enjoyed double-digit jumps in the RPI, with the Hoyas improving 14 slots to No. 41, the Friars leaping 10 spots to No. 76 and the Red Storm climbing 12 to No. 58. Xavier was also in the top-50, improving one spot to No. 49. DePaul (No. 72) and Villanova (No. 95) were also listed in the top 100 for a third consecutive week.

The Hoyas extended their unbeaten streak to three matches following a scoreless draw with nearby foe Maryland on Monday afternoon. Giannis Nikopolidis claimed his sixth shutout of the season, tied for the lead in the BIG EAST, by making five saves over the 110-minute contest. GU outshot the Terps 21-14, including 5-1 in extra time, with Derek Dodson taking a game-high five shots. The non-conference tilt was the final of the regular season for Georgetown, who finishes non-league play 4-2-2.
