BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Player Of the Week
Ashton Millender, DePaul, Sr., G
Millender matched the BIG EAST single-game high in 2018-19 with 27 points against reigning national champion and top-ranked Notre Dame. The senior exploded for 13 first-quarter points as No. 15/15 DePaul jumped out to a 29-22 advantage after 10 minutes. She would finish the first half with 19. Millender shot 7-for-12 from beyond the arc on Saturday afternoon, also matching the conference’s single-game high for three-pointers made this season, while the 27-point total is the most the Irish have allowed an opponent to score since the 2018 Sweet 16.
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Freshman Of the Week
Lauren Wasylson, Xavier, Fr., G
Wasylson was the BIG EAST’s top-scoring rookie last week, averaging 9.0 points off 40-percent shooting, to go along with 2.5 rebounds as Xavier went 1-1. The 6-0 freshman started both contests, scoring seven points against a nationally ranked Minnesota squad on Wednesday, before adding 11 points and three boards in Saturday’s win over Fairfield.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Tiana England, St. John’s, R-So., G
England became the second BIG EAST player this season to reach the double-digit assists mark in a game with 10 dimes at Army on Friday. She added eight points and two rebounds coming off the bench as St. John’s improved to 2-0 on the year.
Kelly Jekot, Villanova, Jr., G
Jekot led the 2-0 Wildcats with 24 points and six rebounds in Friday’s win at Lehigh. She added two assists and shot 5-of-7 from deep.
Shadeen Samuels, Seton Hall, Jr., F
Samuels averaged a double-double of 17 points, 10.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Pirates. She posted 20 points and 10 boards at Princeton in a win, before totaling 14 points and 11 boards in a setback at No. 23 UCLA.
Tori Schickel, Butler, Sr., F/C
In a 2-0 week for the Bulldogs, Schickel averaged 17.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and assists, and .696 shooting. She posted her second double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 boards against Murray State on Tuesday.
Dionna White, Georgetown, Sr., G
In a 1-1 week for the Hoyas, White averaged 18.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals, including a 22-point, eight-rebound outing at James Madison on Friday.
