Midweek Round-Up
BIG EAST women’s basketball teams combined for 6-1 midweek record, including a 4-0 stretch between Wednesday and Thursday. Butler (4-0), St. John’s (3-0) and -/RV Villanova (3-0) all extended their undefeated streaks, while the Red Storm and No. 16/16 DePaul (2-1) began Thanksgiving Week tournament play with impressive wins over Purdue and -/RV Princeton, respectively. Also of note, Xavier (4-1) knocked off ACC foe Wake Forest by double digits, while Providence (1-2) claimed its first win of the season. Tournament play continues today, with St. John’s facing No. 2/2 Connecticut, the Blue Demons tasked with Kansas State and Georgetown tipping off in Las Vegas against RV/RV Buffalo.
Butler 89, UMass Lowell 36
Butler remained undefeated by recording an 89-36 win against UMass Lowell on Tuesday afternoon. BU opened the game on a 19-0 scoring run and would lead by as many as 53 points before the final buzzer. Butler shot 66 percent over the opening 10 minutes to build their lead (12-for-18). UMass Lowell's first point of the game would come at the 3:48 mark on a made free throw. BU ended the quarter on top 27-4. Tori Schickel recorded her third double-double of the season and 37th of her career with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

-/RV Villanova 81, La Salle 68
The Wildcats shot over 45 percent from the field and knocked down 12 threes to remain undefeated (3-0) with a win over La Salle on Tuesday. The Explorers scored first but Villanova responded less than a minute later and never trailed again. The Wildcats forced 17 turnovers will committing just nine of their own. Kelly Jekot led three Villanova players in double figures with 19 points off 8-of-11 shooting.

UNI 65, Creighton 55
Leading 23-20 at halftime, Creighton was outscored 22-10 in the third quarter as the Bluejays fell to Northern Iowa 65-55 on Tuesday. The loss dropped the Bluejays to 1-3 on the season, while Northern Iowa moved to 2-2 on the season. Audrey Faber led Creighton with 10 points and 11 rebounds for her second career double-double, while Olivia Elger also finished with 10 points.

Providence 62, Sacred Heart 52
Chanell Williams scored a career-high 25 points, knocking down 12-fo-16 shots from the field while dishing three assists, leading Providence to its first win of the season on Wednesday. The Friars shot nearly 42 percent from the field while limiting the Pioneers to a .273 clip, and outrebounded by Sacred Heart by a 47-28 margin. Jovana Nogic added 11 points while Olivia Orlando snagged a game-high 12 rebounds.

Xavier 62, Wake Forest 50
Freshman Lauren Wasylson was one of three Musketeers in double figures on Wednesday night, scoring 16 points to lead Xavier to a 62-50 win at Wake Forest. The Musketeers move to 4-1 on the year, while the Demon Deacons fall to 3-2. A'riana Gray led the Musketeers in scoring (17) and rebounding (6), going 6-for-17 from the floor and 3-for-8 from behind the arc while adding three steals.

16/16 DePaul 82, -/RV Princeton 67
Trailing Princeton for practically three quarters, the Blue Demons rallied for an 82-67 victory Thursday in the opener of the Cancun Challenge. DePaul (2-1) did not take its first lead until the 31st minute on Sonya Morris' three-pointer. The lead was 69-63 when DePaul scored 11 points in a row to complete the comeback as the Blue Demons outscored Princeton 24-9 in the fourth quarter. Mart'e Grays led the way with a game-high 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting while Chante Stonewall contributed all over the court with 16 points, a career-high 14 rebounds, four steals and three assists.

St. John’s 68, Purdue 62
Behind a stellar offensive effort, the Red Storm handed Purdue its first loss of the year en route to a 68-62 victory to open up the Paradise Jam on Thursday evening. With the win over the Boilermakers, St. John's remains undefeated and improves to 3-0 for the second-straight season. The Red Storm's starters fueled the fire in the team's Thanksgiving victory as four of the Johnnies finished in double figures. Curteeona Brelove, Alisha Kebbe, Tiana England and Akina Wellere all recorded 14 points for the Red Storm. St. John’s shot 48.3 percent (28-of-58) from the floor for its best shooting effort of the season, draining 6-of-14 from three-point range.
