No. 16/16 DePaul cruises by Kansas State, St. John’s takes No. 2/2 UConn down to the wire, Georgetown can’t complete the comeback against RV/RV Buffalo.

16/16 DePaul 79, Kansas State 59
The Blue Demons picked up their second consecutive double-digit win in Cancun to improve to 3-1 on the year. Kansas State scored the game’s first four points but it was all DePaul after that as the Blue Demons led by as many as 29 in the third quarter, highlighted by 32 points off the bench and 31 points off turnovers. Mart’e Grays led three DePaul players in double figures with 12 points and six rebounds. The Blue Demons will face No. 14/15 Syracuse on Saturday.

2/2 UConn 65, St. John’s 55
The St. John's defense continued to be a key component in the its battle with the nationally ranked Huskies, as this was just the fifth time in the last four seasons that UConn has been held to less than 70 points in a game. The Red Storm (3-1) contained the Huskies to a 43.8 (21-of-48) shooting clip from the field for UConn's lowest of the season. St. John's saw four players finish in double figures for the second-straight game. Stamford, Conn., native Tiana England paced the team with 13 points, six assists and six rebounds in 40 minutes of action. St. John’s led by four early in the fourth quarter, but UConn closed the contest on an 18-4 run to avoid the upset. The Red Storm wrap up action in St. Thomas against Ole Miss on Saturday evening.

RV/RV Buffalo 73, Georgetown 64
Playing their first of two games in Las Vegas, the Hoyas trimmed a once 14-point deficit down to four with 3:33 to play but could not complete the comeback as Georgetown fell to 4-2 on the season. GU got off to a slow start, trailing 38-28 at the half after a 0-11 showing from deep over the first 20 minutes. The Hoyas battled back in the second, using a 14-4 run midway through the fourth quarter to trim Buffalo’s lead to four, 64-60. GU got no closer the rest of the way, despite 15 points, eight rebounds from Anita Kelava, and 10 points, 13 boards from Dionna White. The Hoyas face No. 4/5 Baylor next.
