NEW YORK – DePaul guard Max Strus and Creighton guard Marcus Zegarowski are the winners of this week’s men’s basketball honors.  Strus was named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Zegarowski was tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week.  Strus averaged 30.5 points in a 2-0 week and Zegarowski’s contributions helped Creighton to a win in its only game of the week.     
  
BIG EAST Player of the Week
Max Strus, DePaul, G, Sr. – Strus averaged 30.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in a 2-0 week for the Blue Demons.  For the two games, he shot 52.9 percent from the floor and made 13-of-24 (.542) from beyond the arc.  Strus opened the week with a then-season high 27 points in a 104-70 win against Chicago State.  In a 90-70 victory against Illinois-Chicago, the 6-6 guard posted career highs of 34 points and 13 rebounds.  He tied a school record with eight 3-pointers made. 

BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Marcus Zegarowski, Creighton, G, Fr. – Zegarowski had 13 points, six rebounds and three assists in the Bluejays’ 86-65 win against Green Bay.  He scored the first five points of a decisive 16-5 run in the second half that helped Creighton pull away to the victory.  An important contributor in his rookie season, Zegarowski is averaging 9.3 points while playing 22 minutes per game.     
 
BIG EAST Honor Roll
Mitch Ballock, Creighton, G, So.
Scored a team-high 19 points and tied a season high with seven rebounds in a victory over Green Bay (86-65).  Made 5-of-7 shots from 3-point range.     
Maliek White, Providence, G, Jr.
In a victory over Central Connecticut (87-63), scored a team-high 18 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, had six assists and only one turnover.
Shamorie Ponds, St. John’s, G, Jr.
Fell one rebound short of the school’s first triple-double in 20 years with 16 points, 14 assists and nine boards in a win against Wagner (73-58).         
Myles Powell, Seton Hall, G, Sr.
Scored 28 points and had three steals in a win against Rutgers (72-66).  Made six 3-pointers and was named game MVP of the Garden State Hardwood Classic.       
Quentin Goodin, Xavier, G, Jr.
Had 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting from the field, 10 assists and seven steals in a win over Eastern Kentucky (95-77).
