BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Player Of the Week
Kelly Jekot, Villanova, Jr., G
Jekot becomes the second straight Wildcat to garner BIG EAST Player of the Week honors after leading Villanova to a win over RV/- Georgia on Friday. The junior scored a game-high 20 points off 7-of-10 shooting while grabbing seven boards. She added two assists as the Wildcats won their fifth straight to improve to 8-2 on the season. With Mary Gedaka recognized last week, Villanova claims back-to-back player of the week honors for the first time since 2002-03.
BIG EAST Women’s Basketball Freshman Of the Week
Kadaja Bailey, St. John’s, Fr., G
Bailey picks up her second Freshman of the Week nod of the season after helping the Red Storm to a large-margin win at La Salle on Saturday. The rookie shot 4-of-8 from the field towards eight points while adding seven rebounds in just 21 minutes off the bench. St. John’s improved to 7-3 on the year with the win.
BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Jaylyn Agnew, Creighton, Jr., F
Agnew scored 19 points off 7-of-14 shooting, while adding eight rebounds, two assists and two blocks in the Bluejays’ setback at RV/RV Florida State on Sunday.
Natisha Hiedeman, Marquette, Sr., G
Hiedeman led the Golden Eagles to their first win over Green Bay since the 2010-11 season with 18 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals. She shot 6-of-12 from the field.
Alisha Kebbe, St. John’s, Jr., G
Kebbe stuffed the stat sheet in the Red Storm’s win at La Salle on Saturday, totaling 19 points off 6-of-12 shooting to go along with nine rebounds, four steals, two blocks and two assists.
Na’Teshia Owens, Xavier, Jr., G
Owens scored a game-high 20 points, making 7-of-13 attempts from the field, while adding four assists, three rebounds and a steal in the Musketeers’ setback at Cincinnati on Sunday.
Chanell Williams, Providence, So., G
Williams scored 20 points off 9-of-15 shooting, while adding five steals and two boards in the Friars’ loss to undefeated Northeastern on Saturday.
