Seton Hall's Gregor Tait Named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week
Seton Hall freshman Gregor Tait has been named BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week for the first week in the spring season. Tait shot under par in all three rounds of the UNCG/Martin Downs Collegiate and won the individual title. BIG EAST women’s teams begin play this week and their weekly honors will start next week.
For The BIG EAST Golf Championships Presented by Jeep this spring, the conference will return to the Callawassie Golf Club in Callawassie S.C. The women’s championship will be held April 20-22. The men’s championship is April 29-May 1.
BIG EAST Male Golfer of the Week
Gregor Tait, Seton Hall, Fr. – Tait shot a 1-under-par 71 in the final round of the UNCG/Martin Downs Collegiate to take medalist honors. He shot under par in all three rounds to win his first collegiate individual championship in only his sixth career collegiate tournament. In a field of 69 golfers, Tait shot a 9-under-par (67-69-71—207) for the 54 holes. His 9-under par score tied for the third best score under par in school history. As a team, the Pirates finished second to West Virginia.
BIG EAST Notes –
Butler’s Logan Sabins also was an individual winner among BIG EAST golfers, taking first place at The Invitational at Savannah Harbor. His 54-hole score of 209 (-7) won the event by two strokes. Sabins shot a 69 and 68 in the first two rounds before carding a 72 in the final round in tougher conditions when no golfer broke 70. As a team, Butler took sixth place…
Marquette’s Hunter Eichhorn shot a 3-over-par 216 and finished tied for 17th place at the Puerto Rico Classic. He shot a 2-under-par 69 in the second round when the field posted an average score of 74.61. The freshman finished higher than eight top-100 golfers. As a team, the Golden Eagles finished 11th.
