Two of the four BIG EAST games on Saturday went into overtime and the other two were decided by five and eight points.  One of the results from the dramatic day is a four-way tie for third place with Seton Hall, Butler, Providence and Creighton all at 9-7 going into the final week of the regular season.

Before the usual sellout at CenturyLink Center, homestanding Creighton made up a 68-60 deficit with 4:30 left in regulation to force overtime and grab an 89-83 win over No. 3 Villanova (25-4, 12-4).  The Bluejays’ Marcus Foster led all scorers with 28 points.  Khyri Thomas helped with 24 points.  Jalen Brunson led all five Wildcat starters in double figures with 22 points.  Mikal Bridges added 18 points.  Creighton (20-9, 9-7) notched its 18th 20-win season in the last 20 years and gained its fourth win over a ranked team this season.

In a game that included 15 ties, Seton Hall and St. John’s played an extra period at Madison Square Garden before the Pirates took an 81-74 decision.  In the overtime, Khadeen Carrington and Angel Delgado combined for 10 of the 11 Pirate points.  Carrington finished with 22 points.  Delgado recorded his 20th double-double of the season with 14 points and 13 rebounds.  Shamorie Ponds scored 19 of his game-high 25 points after halftime for St. John’s (14-15, 3-13).  Seton Hall (20-9, 9-7) has its third straight 20-win season.

Down by nine points late in the first half, DePaul came back to earn a 70-62 win over visiting Marquette.  The Blue Demons held the Golden Eagles to 2-of-14 shooting from the field in the second half and outscored MU 42-29 after the break.  Max Strus led DePaul (11-17, 4-12) with 20 points and 11 rebounds.  Marin Maric added 13 points and 13 boards.  Andrew Rowsey scored a team-high 16 points for Marquette (16-12, 7-9).  Markus Howard, who missed the previous game with a hip injury, came off the bench to score 12 points in 31 minutes.  The win was DePaul’s first league victory at Wintrust Arena.

At Georgetown, Providence put five players in double figures and came back from a 40-35 halftime deficit to pick up a 74-69 win at Capital One Arena.  Rodney Bullock led the Friar offense with 19 points and Kyron Cartwright had 16 points and nine assists.  Providence (18-12, 9-7) has won eight straight against the Hoyas.  Georgetown, as usual, was led by Jessie Govan (20 pts., 11 rebs.) and Marcus Derrickson (11 pts., 15 rebs.).  Govan passed the 1,000-point mark for his career.

The Hoyas are right back in action on Monday when they host Marquette.   FS1 will televise the contest at 7 p.m.  It’s the only game on the BIG EAST schedule
